kahibaw ka dong, sayon raman na imo problem gud. kung wala kay nasabtan bahin sa imong sakit or sa tambal, u can always ASK the doctor.

pa bati-ay man na sila og agi hehehe...kidding aside, we have to realize that what they write is not intended for the public to see, only for themselves and their peers. As you'll see, the way they write is decipherable amongst other doctors because they know what to look for.

pero believe it or not, naa kuno subject ang pharmacists nga pagsabot sa batig agi sa doc.. (or basin gibinuangan lang kos akong amiga ato.. haha)

the first and most important reason: because doctors have to write a lot. 5 years of constantly writing notes, essays, results and diagnoses to tight deadlines, and having to match the speed of lecturers, patients and other medical staff.

second: it's a stereotype.. not all doctors have bad handwriting but it is true that most use abbreviations so laypersons may not understand. medical terminology is long, so instead of writing 'diagnosis: pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta' the doctor may quickly scribble 'Dx: PLEVA'... instead of writing 'take two Amoxicillin capsules three times a day for 1 week', it is common to write Cap. Amoxil 2/2 tds x 1/52.

hospitals here are using electronic prescribing, so errors arising from bad handwriting is a thing of the past. hopefully hospitals and clinics in cebu will move towards this soon.

lastly, so that you don't recognize the message he gives to the drug store owner through your prescription: "i have looted him, you too loot now!"

LOL gibinuangan ra ka sa imong amiga, sis! A friend who's in med school right now, when I asked him, he said it is because the classes and the amount of knowledge he is expected to absorb is so enormous, during class he has learned to write really fast to keep up, thus the hardly legible handwriting. He says he can't even read his handwriting sometimes, LOL!
