If I had to spend $2,000 on a laptop... i would pick the Sony Vaio Z due to the size, quality of the display (1920x1080) option on a 13" screen... and the power dock with a pretty decent videocard....
But personally... I would get a cheap 11.6" laptop for $500-$600 and splurge the rest on a proper gaming desktop pc.. hehe
With alienware i really don't like the bulky out of this world design (not to mention the weight) .. the color customizations are nice but I figure that you will grow out of it in a year or so... mas professional ang Vaio or the Mac but I think the Mac Air and Mac Pro 13" are no good for games, the 15" versions have good video but are quite pricey already and mas better specced ang Vaio Z than the Macbook 15" (weight, graphics, resolution)
Anyway... the VAIO S (SA spec) is a good consideration plainly because of the massive 1600x900 resolution and the playable graphics... that's something the Macbook Air 11" /13" and Mac Pro 13" don't have.
Apple's ace in the hole would be their Thunderbolt port which could allow external graphics to be connected.... that would really change the game but until they do that ... Sony Vaio S is a better buy. Macbook Air / Pro also needs to increase the resolution sa ilang 13" laptops... hopefully the next refresh will already have the high res displays which is must have for graphic artists.
