halin na ang d700. d3s na part
how long did it take me to upgrade?
i started this hobby way back november of 2009. bought a d60 with an 18-55mm VR lens. after 2 months of using it, naka realize ko nga i need to upgrade para maka gamit ko sa mga old lenses sa nikon like the 50mm 1.8D kay dili bya na sya mo AF sa mga entry level cameras sa nikon.
so after 2 months of playing with my d60, decided to buy a D80 and was able to use it for almost a year and tried the following lenses, nikon 18-135, nikon 18-105 VR, sigma 70-300, nikon 70-300 VR, nikon 50mm, tamron 28-75, tamron 70-200, sigma 10-20mm, nikon 24-70 N.
while playing with my D80, there came a point wherein naka ingon ko nga "murag kuwang naman". kuwang in a sense nga i needed a more powerful cam. in the sense nga maka kaya ug mas taas nga ISO, faster FPS, better dynamic range and etc. so after almost a year of playing with my D80, i decided to buy the D700, and sticked to the nikon lenses (50mm 1.8, 85mm 1.4, 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8 ). so far as of karon happy naman ko with this lineup. for a serious hobbyist like me, this is enough na.
upgrade when you feel like you've mastered najud your camera. upgrade when you feel like you want more "power". and 3rd, ang pinaka important sa tanan, upgrade when you have the budget na.
IMHO

I'm all for this!...or at least till your gear breaks then it's really time to get a new one!
I went through nearly 20 years of shooting film before getting my feet wet with digital.
I started shooting digital in 1999 with a Kodak DC280...
Knowing I was into photography, the company I worked for at the time asked me to look around for a good digital camera... then made me the "un-official photographer" the company. I handled marketing.
In 2003, I got my very own digital camera which was a Sony Cybershot DSC-F717... I really loved it and wish it was still working today. I shot magazine covers, editorials, billboards, advertisements, and a host of other thins with that...
This was also the time I jumped into full time commercial photography.
After awhile though the click-wheel started getting stuck and the camera charger broke. I had two rechargeable batteries but it would only charge in camera. Sony managed to salvage the charger... barely. Also, the highest ISO I could shoot was 100... 200 was already grainy and anything higher was horrible.
With the 717 faltering I bought my first dSLR in 2005~2006... the Canon EOS 300D... aka the first Digital Rebel. The great granddaddy of all of Canon's x00 series cameras...

The 300D started breaking down so in 2008 I got my Canon EOS 40D...
I'm still using the 40D up to now... either because it's a better build or because I'm only doing photography part time now that I'm back to corporate life.
@sir abort: thank you sa imong pag-share sa imong upgrade history! I realized nga i had an old film camera when everybody was already in the digital era around 2005 toh.. hehehehe... pero na-hook ko sa photography ato nga time...
oh i miss my konika epf-3 (RIP kay dili na jud mu-work except the flash)...
