if we were only a strong nation since times past, we wouldn't have been colonized and enslaved by the spaniards. we wouldn't have been SOLD to america. we would have been a true ally--equal in status--with strong nations trying to win over japan during the world war.

but sad to say our country has always been the colonized. we were and still are a relatively weak nation.

so i don't wish to be any other nationality. i just want to be filipino, period. this is my own little contribution to patriotism or nation builidng. insignificant, yes. so i hope for numbers...i encourage all filipinos to embrace our nationality. let us admire other cultures and enfold their admirable characteristics into our own, but at the end of the day, i hope you'd still proudly say, "I am a filipino." Mabuhay tayo.
