Tradition, and business interest..
XD

There are so many reasons as to why. For some it may be focused on wealth, family tradition, inheritance, etc.. But when you look at these things as a whole, it boils down to culture differences. Both the Chinese and Filipinos have very different cultures. Conflicting even in some points.

For a Chinese-Filipino relationship to work, both sides have to work on understanding each other's cultures. Cultural differences can be sharp and fraught with conflict. They can extend to all areas of a relationship. These differences may say that each partner should do this or that. For example, a person’s culture might say that women should do this and men that. Most often, it means that men should run things and women follow along; men should be the primary breadwinner (even in these days!) and women shouldn’t work or work for household money only. Both of you should agree to those concepts before you proceed further. You should know what the score is: don’t expect a person to change overnight.
