interesting kaayo. Godwilling matinuod ni. but i agree, in part, with nindotkanon.. daghan ang immediate needs that cebu needs to attend to.

this is a good longterm plan, though and i wouldn't mind seeing these plans developed within my lifetime. tabangay ra gud, mahimu man ang tanan.

maybe it would be better if they would add another project. A highway connecting cebu from the northernmost part all the way down to the southern tip. from bantayan to santander. Just like the interstate highways in US. This highway would ease the traffic from province-province. Making trade faster and this would pave way for the improvement of the rural areas not just the central part of Cebu.

Mandaue is now doing its part for the Masterplan... Got this news from the internet...

    Mandaue aims high
Plan to transform city into business-tourism hub
    Published: 07 May 2006

    Cebu Daily News

MANDAUE City yesterday launched its own South Reclamation Area that is envisioned to propel the city's dream of becoming the "convention center in Asia" by 2020.

Mandaue no longer wants to be known as a gateway to Cebu City. Rather, it wants to be recognized as a new growth center of Metro Cebu.

The 180-hectare South Special Zone located in the waterfront will be the new central business district of Mandaue keyed on tourism, information technology and business activity, officials said in a press conference during the city's annual Mantawi Festival.

International urban planner Palafox Associates was engaged by the Mandaue City government to complete a detailed masterplan by October. The city government allocated P2 million for the study.

Among the features: a marina and yacht club, an I.T. zone, a luxury residential enclave or a retirement city, the Cebu Boardwalk project and the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) where the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will be held in December.

The waterfront of the new Mandaue City will come alive with activities revolving around entertainment, shopping, arts and culture, dining and relaxing.

According to the plan, the area will have a boardwalk, restaurant strip, marina promenade, yacht club, amphitheater park, night and flea markets, retail and wellness center, and a water shuttle terminal.

So far, the Cebu Doctors University has started to build in the area. An international school has also expressed interest in locating there.

The proposed Cebu International Trade and Exhibition Center will also rise in the Mandaue reclamation area since it has been endorsed for funding by the National Economic Development Authority to the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

There will also be schools and residential areas.

Mayor Ouano said the master plan will be submitted to the city council for approval.

Ouano said the consultant is still gathering more data for the study which is needed to formulate the detailed plan.

Just like the plans of Cebu City for its South Reclamation Project, Mandaue City also wants to put up a yacht club at the Cebu Harbor.

The master plan is too good to be true. I wish the execution of those could happen before I breath my last. Ug labing maayo kay growing metropolis man ang cebu, mag hire ang local government in coordination with the private sector ug mga top notch nga urban planners.

It is very awkward to see in the end that you have such a very good plan but because the way the urban planners are doing a spaghetti type of development, mao ra gihapon wa lang gihapon nada. Gi develop man tuod pero gubot pa diay sa lukot.

@budmendz: you have a point there...

look what is happening now to the convention center in mandaue... they are rushing things now... we really have this attitude that we only execute plans on the last minute...
