bisrock has been usurping the scene even the early or late 90s with bands like The Roots, ETU..katong mga scum bands saona nga nadunggan ra nako sa radio. hehe. di pa lang "bisrock" ang term ato(ambot unsa kaha!). and mind you, it has its own share and high and low...(pero mura ug karon high na man perme). heheh.

so if there is something bisrock worth saving from i think, is becoming too commercialized or bastardized to the point of being just a hype.

mo-agree ko sa gisulti sa bandang "blood of the stone". insakto kaayo.

think of it bai, mu sugot ra ka ingun ana na ka dali2x nga mag himu2x ug kanta?tan-awa ra gud kung unsay gpang buhat anang mga bisrock...mu respeto nuon ku anang ga una2x jud..like missing fillemon ug uban pa..but tan-awa ra gud unsa ang g-buhat anang mga ni apil ra sa uso..ang mga artist nga tinuod kay g-trabaho-an gud na nila ang ilang mga kanta,g-gastohan ang mga gamit ug recording..nya mu sugot ra ka nga bisag kinsa ra ang pwede mu himo ug banda, bisag mga karpentero kayg nawng(no offense ) nya mu himu ug lame-ass nga kanta nya mu sikat dayun, naa dayun airplay?

wa man sad ku ni ingon na suya ku kay mas ni sikat cla but wa d man jud cla dapat respetohan gud kay wa jud clay ayo manukar...

Then He compared a song from a particular band Aggressive Audio (Ang Tigulang) that it is more or like the song "Spaghetting Pababa", as if it was something bad, and he said that "sila ra ang makaguba sa music scene sa Cebu" and that they are like the Lito Camo of Cebu. It's something like that...

what really amazed me was that the sender was a guitarist from a well-respected band in cebu,
I see him as a true artist in cebu, i respect him and his opinions. But after reading his letter, I feel disgusted, turned off and really cant contain what he just did. Ingon ani naba ka divided and mga artists sa cebu? Is there really a barrier to bisrock artists and the artists who make music in other language?
Thinking about what he did, I know he is a great artist; a dignified one, but
he should be the one to help these bands to become better, ug nga tabangan niya sa iyang insights sa iyang pagka artist. I just feel He's so selfish; a self-centered jerk. ug sa gi ingon pa sa akong boss, "gamay siyag utok"

I'm not an artist, and I'm not trying to save bisrock here, why dont you artists help these struggling bisrock artists to become better.how many artists are here hiding in different names? Com'on People, lets be productive. When can we succeed in the music industry if we try to bring down the people who is trying to climb up.

    just my two cents.
Is that letter available in cyberspace? I have to take a look at it before I say something about it. If it really does dismiss certain music because of its style (and not quality), I think I’m quite familiar with that, uhh, way of looking at things. The first time I spent a long time in Manila, I was a bit surprised at how much people were labeling each other. There are people called Jologs and there are people called Conyos. And this dichotomy is reflected in music as well. There’s jologs music and there’s conyo music. Yep, it was so frikn hilas, it made me want to throw up (btw, I’ve been trying to find an exact translation of hilas—pretentious, matapobre, elitist, mayabang, priggish—but I still have not found it… I think it is a mix of all these plus a dash of corny and way batasan)

Nevertheless, the social phenomenon is quite interesting; so interesting, in fact, that I made a study on it. You will find the study hopeful that such an awful thing will not happen to Cebu. But hearing things like this lessens my hope…

I think this hilas paradigm comes from not having enough friends. I think all of us know people who look down on some people simply because they listen to certain kinds of music or they speak or dress in a certain way. I think if they had a more diverse set of friends, they would be more open-minded. I don’t think a person can say “people who listen to band x are so jologs” when you actually have a friend who really likes band x.

I present 3 factors in the study to why this kahilas is present in Manila. There seems to be many Manilenyos whose circles of friends have almost exactly the same prejudices as them. This is bad. Lack of real contact tends to dehumanize those who you lack contact with, thus the stereotypes of “jologs” and “conyos.” Fortunately there’s education. Most Manilenyos I have met who have gone through college—and who therefore had better chances of getting friends from different backgrounds—seem to be open-minded; there are just some, however, who persist in their prejudice.

The worst thing that could happen with this Bisrock thing is that there will be a pro-Bisrock camp and an anti-Bisrock camp, the same way there are jologs and conyo camps in Manila. I think we could avoid this if we take seriously Francis M’s observation: it’s a kaleidoscope world. If you can appreciate what you disagree with or what you don’t like, then we are in good shape. If you have friends whose tastes are absolutely incomprehensible to you, then I think we are safe from becoming hilas.

All together now! Every color, every hue, is represented by me and you…

daghan na diay mopatukar na stations ra radyo? when in fact it's only smash FM ang kapunay mopatukar... other stations are killing bisrock by their remix, and that's the worst thing na mahitabo sa usa ka rock or alternatiev song... if moingon ta bakya ang usa ka song kay 3-chord song lang siya, are we not being judgemental? ngano man diay if mao na ila style of music? kanta man gani manny pacquiao na lagpas kaayo ug tingog!

define mal-mal? if u meant "malmal" as in daghan na kaayo, huna-hunaa ra gud pila ka kanta nga eninglis ug tagalog compared to visayan songs...and these new bands nga wa pa nagkadima-o, well point taken,. but then there will always be a room for improvement. dili tanang banda "season" na kaayog tinukaran sa sinugdanan. taga-i sa ug lugway ang mga newbies para molambo in say 3-5 years..nya ingna ko kung bakakon kung mao ra gihapon ang ilang tinukaran.

@iskolares, it was insoy who said those words...of course, you expect no less from a writer and editor of a local daily.
