BARF is expensive but I feel in the long run if the dog has less health problems I will be saving money in vet bills. Ooops...I meant string beans...baguio beans...not beans like pork and beans. Sorry about that. The string beans don't make them utot more than they normally do.
As to time consuming, we shred enough vegetable mix for about a week and refrigerate. The chicken necks I buy already in 1 kilo bags cuz in my case I serve 1 kilo in am and 1 kilo in the pm. No doubt it is more time consuming but the dog benefits immediately.
I just adopted a 3 month old Aspin from the pound who is so small and emaciated. When she arrived at my house I gave her some Alpo soft food, mixed with rice, and she ate it cuz she was starving. Her poop was so soft and runny. So the next day, I started her immediately on BARF and today her poop was hard, no smell, and she was running around happy.
If too expensive the suggestion of mixing dog food with BARF might be better than nothing. But I would like the opinion of the BARF experts who have had their dogs on BARF longer than me and see what they think.
