Well, Quisumbing will eventually want to have his money back once he get in position. And he might even want an interest on that.
Maybe that's the reason he is really fighting for an ancestral land in Sumilao, Bukidnon. The 144 hectare piece of land already went through the Agrarian Reform and was distributed to 137 Mapadayonong Panaghiusa sa mga Lumad Alang sa Damlag (MAPALAD) farmers, all of Higaonon lineage, the original occupants of the land. However, Quisumbing was greatly appalled by this so he connived with the Sanggunian Bayan members of Sumilao to pass a resolution to turn the land to an industrial area.
The land was a Prime Agicultural Land, meaning that it is ideal for growing crops to sustain the needs of our country. But the court favored for Quisumbing, which reflects what kind of justice system we have in our country. So those poor Sumilao farmers went in to hunger srtike just to save the land that the have.
