Thread: Learning Bisaya

Sentences in Cebuano does have a structure but not every time followed especially when we converse and use it in everyday life. I think before one could perfectly write in cebuano, immersion would be an effective pre requisite. But keep on doing it coz your doing well i guess.

I remember my teacher in college ni ana cia ., when we translate we never cant convey the 100% meaning of it, sometimes its too much or the other way around.. murag sakto pud kay we feel like we really cant express ourselves when we use english.. pero kung mag bisaya tang mga bisaya murag masulti jud nato and mas nindot jud mag tabi with matching tono and actions pa usahay! and kana sad mag tan-aw ko ug movie in Tagalog then naay subtitle sa ubos in English, murag kiwaw and kulang ra jud..hehehe (i know im a bit far off. LOL)

(TS: i'm learning korean this way. i have the construction 'Naneun megjuruhl jowahanda' (i like beer) and from that i can say 'naneun kimchirul johahanda, naneun uyuruhl jowahana, etc.' but then the colloquial way i was told is just 'megjuruhl jowahe' )
I haven't read all of the new posts yet but I got so excited when I just read your post above! I'm half-Korean and I am pretty fluent in it! I can help you learn Korean if you would like some tips or help with grammar sometime. Of course not here in my Cebuano journal thread but I would be more than happy to help you out if you need it! A quick tip: if you don't know how to write in Korean I would suggest that you learn the alphabet 한글 and use it. Romanizations only slow you down, it doesn't help. Also, our alphabet is nicknamed "the morning letters" because they are so easy to learn that you can learn them completely in one morning. what you wrote in romanizations in 한글 is:
나는 맥추를 좋아한다. 나는 김치를 좋아한다. 나는 우유를 좋아한다. 맥추를 좋아해.

Please remember the form you used for the first 3 sentences is not a spoken form, it's the 'book reading' form. Ok, now back to learning Cebuano!!

My friend asked me to go swimming with sharks yesterday. I told him I don’t do things like that because things like that is crazy!

Napangayo kanako ang abay ko miadto milangoy uban mga iho gahapon. Nasayri ko kaniya dili ako magbuhat mga butang ingon kana kay makabuang pagbuhat mga butang ingon kana!

ey fife what a surprise i know how to read and write hangul. sometimes for the fun of it, i write cebuano in hangul and let koreans read it. but i don't think you have the sound /a/ in the second syllable of 'bata' (child). will pm you re learning korean.

re cebuano learning, your translations are the 'book reading' forms also. but if that helps you understand cebuano grammar, you can always start there and then learn spoken cebuano. good luck!

Nanimaho akong kamot sa paglimpyo nako sa akong puluy-anan ganina tungod sa guwantis nga akong gigamit.
