had a seminar with a prestone representative kay sila man sponsor sa amo club, depende ra jud na nimu, pwede 60 ang tubig nya 40 coolant, pwede 50:50 pwede 30:70 ug MUCH BETTER daw kung pure coolant kay the higher the coolant percentage the higher boiling point... mao man daw na ila gi studyhan nga mixtures...

just noticed it today, naa pud panguntra sa rust ang prestone.

I remembered @ school sa physics class about boiling and cooling properties of water or even any liquid. Impurities (kanang chlorine, other minerals and stuffs nga nicombine na sa water) would increase the boiling point of water and would also increase the time for water to cool down. So basically, dugay moinit ug dugay sad mabugnaw kung daghang impurities.

So I would highly recommend using distilled water dili nang mineral water kay naa gihapon nay impurities (mau gitawag nga mineral water) or maski kanang naa sa mga refilling station (purified water ra nah, dili distilled..gilimpyohan ra daw through a lot of filters). Rain water is also a natural distilled water ug libre pah, kinahanglan lang jod i-filter.

So ako multicab, ala ko gamit2x ug coolant. Then sa Isuzu Frontier sa akong Uncle, rain water ang iya gamit and his radiator was really clean. Pero gagamit japon cya ug coolant pang anti-rust...kay ang water when boiled, manggawas ang Hydrogen and Oxygen atoms. Then iron man nang metal. Then if magmeet ang oxygen ug iron, mahimo man nang ferous oxide or the so called "rust"..hehehe...so there are still chances you could get rust when using distilled water alone.

    Hope this helps..
(Very well said bro! hehehehehehe... mas panalo ang RAIN WATER kpag matrafik ung Stop and Go lalo na kpag ORDINARY MOTOR OIL lng gamit mo, hindi gaano maiinit ang makina saka mas madaling lumamig kapag nakaRest from byahe ang makina. subok ko yan kc bumabyahe ak madalas sa NLEX saka nagpaPOWER SHIFT ak kada 2nd Gear kung nag primira ak at 3rd Gear kung sigunda start ko (Gas po makina ko) lastly, every Year, i-Drain nyo radiator nyo tpos mag lagay ng 2-Liters na ZONROX tpos Rain Water ang the rest at tumakbo ng 1-week.... after a week, drain mo ung zonrox at... 100% MALINIS na MALINIS ang radiator mo! finally after ma-drain ung zonrox, banlawan ng tubig sa gripo ang radiator tpos, mag lagay na ng NEW Rain Water! kahit pa Diesel makina mo, hnd yan mag o-Over heat khit pa 130kph takbo mo for 1-hour... sana naka share ak sa inyo)

We have no use for anti-freeze here so Prestone will do. Most expensive coolants have anti-freeze properties which have no use in our climate. As pointed out by others above, impurities decrease the boiling point and leave mineral deposits, the white stuff you see when frequently heating water. Mineral water, even bottled ones are no exception. To be safe, use only distilled water. The deposits decrease the efficiency of the radiator as this impedes the dissipation of heat which will naturally lead to overheating.

I would not advise using pure distilled water only. The water will boil eventually in long distance travel which as stated, will evaporate to gas and again lead to an over-pressurized system and overheating. Use distilled water also in your washers as mineral deposits in the water clog and destroy washer pumps.

    distilled water is much ok

    This is good info.

Naa lng ko question. Ok kaha ni sa Kia Avella? In case lng naa ka idea.
You wrote 1 day before. So ako sa i-drain mga 15-25% of the water sa radiator then add 250 ml nga rust converter? Then add more tap water if dli pa ma full ang radiator? Or drain jud nko tanan then add water with rust converter nga 250 ml.

By the way, around 20 Km. ra akong dagan everyday. House to office and back to house ra jud.

Thanks kaayo for sharing your knowledge.

This way, all the iron oxide residing in your cooling system will be converted into iron phosphate, mas stable nga state sa iron, ug di na mopadayon pa ug taya nga maoy hinungdan nga mabuslot ang head gasket nga made of steel. Nabuhat na ni nako ug clear ang tubig sa akong radiator all the time, no more rusts or iron oxide.

Kanang taya sa puthaw or iron oxide, mag sige lang gyud na ug katag for as long as naa pay iron ug oxygen from air or water sa iyang palibot.

    Caution:
I am not saying this is a must for you to do. It is possible kini nga pamaagi dili compatible sa imong cooling system kay lahi ang imong materials gigamit or lahi ang design sa imong cooling system. I strongly suggest you also do some research and do some thinking about sa imong cooling system gigamit before taking my suggestion. One thing for sure, it works well on a Nissan Sentra.

    Guys,

Ok ra ba nga ang pag drain sa water(radiator) is while the engine is on? Instead, ang engine is used to pump the water out, then open ang pipe outside sa engine (that pipe connected sa radiator). Ni out jud ang water from the radiator, passed through the engine then out. Inclined man gud ang lugar namo then wet pa jud ang ground, mag lisod ug jack.

Another question. Should I also put coolant on radiator water reservoir? That plastic storage outside sa radiator. It has a hose connected to the radiator.

    Thanks
