    TIMELESS

    NIGHTSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY

In shooting at night and when the sky is included in your frame, always include fast moving clouds to invoke drama in your image. With correct WB, exposure and framing, your nightscapes would be timeless. These are rare moments that can only be captured once with a good light and with luck on the side.

Its been awhile since my last post, it has been a wonder 2009 for me. I have captured one of the best light in different locations. I have a chance to end the year with a landscape photo safari in Negros. I would like to share them to you as it impart a certain message not only by taking another picture but understanding nature more inorder to display your unique vision and style to your audience.

    PLAYGROUND

    Theatre Light
Nikon D300, Nikkor 12-24, Hoya CPL HD, Hoya ND8, Hitech 0.6 SE GND

While reading "Working the Light" book, there's one thing about whats right and bad light. There's no such thing as bad light, it in the photographers aesthetic sense and technique how he will work around the light thats available. Maybe not the best light suitable for your image in mind.

Our last day of landscaping trip, we were blessed with another best light in Silay Old Port. The Old Port has been my playground. We were hesitant at first if we'll be going down as high tide welcomes us that day. Knee deep waters, several inches of mud, uncertainty of what's down there and kids excited to be photograph. With the image in mind, i was the last to step down the ladder and got near these fish poles just to capture this image after the sun besets the horizon.

The old port is a perfect theatre of light, always delivering a unique sense of drama and provides great colors on many subjects of the port. Whenever I'm in Negros, I will always shoot this place, be always coming back to this place. ..

    VISION & STYLE

Our vision should depict how we shoot. It's necessary on how it dictates our style. Defining style can lead us to endless discussion but it always end up on our personal taste no matter how flat, less dramatic the image is. But style can be influence by changing taste, inspiration and evolution. Different style has evolved and their are new ones (PP style, poses, location and etc), but it does not have to embedded in our mind as compare to vision. As Charlie Waite says, "Our image making style is a lightweight relation to the profundity of our deeply held personal vision".

Mambukal falls may have been shot by many but it is in our personal vision on how we see things differently from others. You always need to "PRE-VISION" whenever you go to new and old places. If it's your first, do some research, look into photographers who previously photographed the place - do your homework. If the second time, learn from your mistakes, think of new things (uniqueness) and try again.

not necessarily, but sunrise and sunset displays the best light in any landscape vista.
