just to clarify my point, i believe that this certification is meant for people wanting to work as photographers..esp abroad. if i were TESDA, this is to make sure that Filipino photographers working abroad are qualified to do just that in the same way that all other workers from nurses to plumbers, from teachers to welders, have to be qualified to work as such..and for me, with that certification, people will have better chances of working as photographers..like in cruise ships, as mentioned in the article posted. i do not think this will hamper us, hobbyists, from continuing to pursue photography. or even "professional photographers" who are actually self-employed from continuing their business as well. again, this is meant for photographers who wants to be employed as photographers.

that is how i understand the content of the news lang. there is not much detail to it pa man gud so i can only surmise based on the little info sa article..kay sila mismo wa pa man sad mahuman tingali og finalize sa guidelines.

sa technical side cguro pwede like mga settings sa camera, or proper lighting. Nindot cguro ang technical side as sort of foundation. pero sa ako lang, i look at photography as also an art. Lisod pag set ug standard ani nga part. Walay blema sa mga hobbyist like me cguro pero for those who make a living sa photography, murag less important na ang portfolio...

sa ako lang pag sabot bro ha...

i think the keyword there are voluntary and IF and ALL, meaning if i was the employer, and all employers would prefer TESDA certified photographers, then those who wants to apply for that particular job would need to get the certification. but only if the employers choose to...its not TESDA that is or will be making it complusory. who knows, there maybe ad agencies and other photography related businesses (like picture city, and other cheap studios like the ones in the downtown area that takes ID pics) who wont require the photographers they will hire to be certified.

good point genesis, but judging on the way things work here, this will eventually become a standard even though they would insists that it's voluntary. because as far as i know skilled workers before were also on a voluntary basis when it comes to certification, if certified ka sa tesda the more ka qualified until becomes compulsory. but as you mention there's not much detail to it so we'll have to wait jud hehehehehe.. YET im just a hobbyist so i could say the hell that i care... hahahaha basta ako keep shooting lang jud ta! until mo abot ang time na mo qoute nata like the skateboarders: "im a 'photographer' arrest me" hahahaha
