bro, basin nagdagan na sa 32bit OS. in real world, di basta2x i-pace ang 32bit ug dali2x kay most MNC are still using it. as at 1st quarter 2009, DDR2 is still the best against DDR3. but bro, gi-announced na ang DDR3-1600 (infact out na diri sa singapore). Upcoming is the DDR3-1866 (busa gi-sale na diri ang mga pc with DDR3-1600).

looking at how the tech evolves. soon, pace-out na ang 32bit OS diri. hence, most games will catch up pud sa 64bit requirements, followed by other hardware brands.

so its not necessary to pair quad cores with ddr3 mems, not even for performance reasons...
you can barely even see any difference with the new am3 platform from am2 ones when running on similar configurations and only the memory is different (ddr2 vs ddr3)... wala untay fanboi masuko, hehehe

ahh, so that's the reason why you don't consider the TS's situation before you reply...
bro, the TS is trying to make a rig that can play "CoD4" on a tight budget, so no, 1% performance increase on expensive ram is not what he's after nor does it look like he's gonna overclock it...

and my 2 cents, 2 x 9600gt costs roughly the same as a 4870 512mb, and yet performance wise and power consumption wise, which one wins? and add the premium cost of getting a good SLI mobo. Its just not practical...

I chosed corsair brand as it gave better performances in terms of noice-vibrations
yes, we can see you're a big fan of corsair memory for reasons that seems to escape me... ^_^

I beg to differ, the majority of PCs are on 32bit operating system, I doubt it would be paced out just because gamers/server applications need more ram... try working for microsoft tech support, home users can't live with 64bit OS since they complaining that their programs do not work on it... and IMO, games have the same requirements be it on 32bit or 64bit version of a particular OS...

but bro, gi-announced na ang DDR3-1600 (infact out na diri sa singapore). Upcoming is the DDR3-1866 (busa gi-sale na diri ang mga pc with DDR3-1600).
this is like old news, ddr3-2000 is readily available...

The only thing I agree with you so far is that technology is evolving, but it doesn't mean you need to have the best to play CoD4, hehehe...

    @TS

Sorry for the OT... by now bro naa na ka idea unsa nga specs makapadagan ug CoD4...

    OT:

hehehe, nalingaw ko nagbasa ani nga thread. anyway, let's not forget some things:

paced out is different from phased out
pace out is different from phase out

as far as this thread is concerned, it escapes me as to why they are using "pace", hehehe

lolz...at least na ta tanan na-learn..hehe

@TS: First thing you have to consider is the Vcard - mid-range cards like 9600GT is more than enough...if you wanna play at 1280x1024 its best you get 512MB of this card.
Next is the memory, for now 2GB will suffice but it wouldn't hurt if you have 4GB..but consider dual-channeling to get the best of your mems, e.g., 2x1GB or 2x2GB...
Third is for your proc...actually, OK ra gani P4 3.0 Ghz, pero mas nice japon dual-core or core2duo...
summing up..a mid-range gaming PC will most likely be you choice..

    Core2Duo/Dual-Core + 9600GT + 2GB RAM..payts na na!

Just for your reference, my setup is:
    Core2Duo E7400 2.8Ghz
    Inno3d 9600GT 512MB
    2x2GB DDR2 800 RAM

With this setup i play COD4 with max settings...except for AA of course..

if you are not going after the highest setting
try looking at those internet cafes with COD4 installed
and check the specs of their pc.
Most of the components are bang for the buck

you can play cod4 smoothly with AA enabled,...and with regard to the ts query, I say an HD 4670 + dual-core cpu + 2gb of ram is enough,..I can play mine at 1280x1024 at max 16AF/8xAA, minimal framerates I'm getting on battle intensive areas, is 28-30fps
