Thread: Pc Problem..

  1. #31

    @nissans

    Early May before leaving for vacation and just this week, when I found out it won't come on. I still have to look for my multimeter though. I'm pretty sure that the AVR's fine, because I'm using it right now with my laptop. I can do without the PC, but I have siblings that use it. So I can't do the fixing on my own for now, since I'm rarely home anymore.

    So any ideas where I can get this thing fixed?

    i suppose it was all ok then u cleaned it, tested ok very shortly and left for vacation. now, this problem. i would think that somehow something got loose or not seated properly when u cleaned it. s ur cpu and hsf fan ok and seated alrite? s there any beep u hear (how many?) when u turn ur pc on?

    u better start another thread if the problem isn't resolved yet coz this is hijacking boyq's thread now.

    good luck!

    SALAMAT!

    @nissans

    no beeps, whatsoever, everything is tightly fitted and seated where they should be, I was very careful and very meticulous about everything being where they should be. Before I went on vacation, I cleaned the system, then I reformatted it, tested to see if everything still works, and it did, very well so actually, then covered the system with plastic transparent covering, and left for a month. when I came back with my sibs, it won't come on, it'll just come on for a sec, no beeps heard, just the fan starting up, then it suddenly loses power

    I tried cleaning the system again, check all the wiring to see if nothing's been damaged, and all that, but I couldn't find anything wrong with it.

    ok, thinking..., thinking....

    granting all connectors are seated well and cpu/hsf is ok, too, here's what i would do:
    1. i will check the psu. voltages at the connectors.
    2. i will check cmos batt though most often most will still boot with dead batt but i have encountered weird behaviors with dead cmos batt too. since u said no beep then ur pc didn't post. faulty mb? no bulging caps you've seen there?

    @nissans

    Let's rule out #2, I changed the CMOS batt just this April and nope, no bulging capacitors there. I'm actually thinking it's the PSU because there's hardly any power given to the system, but I think someone's stole my multitester a long time ago and I haven't done any PSU checking in my entire life before

    As for the MB, I have no idea, it could be it too, the system's about two years old now, and the MB isn't really something I can brag about. But it's been a good system until now. I'm just happy there's interaction in this community, because I get to learn new things about troubleshooting.

    What I really wanna know is, if it's the PSU or the mobo, why'd it suddenly go bad after not being used for just a little over a month? I've never had a PC gone bad on me before, I'm just glad I'm not like a lot of users who get fustrated over an issue like this

    bro baterry jud na klaro kaau. CR2032 barato raman na bro. basta mo checksum klarix batery

    well, at this point, the only thing to do is check the psu. doing so will help isolate which is which - psu or mb? 1. voltages are all there & correct = psu is good, bad mb. 2. voltages are abnormal & gets ok when connector disconnected = good psu, bad mb. 3. voltages are abnormal & same when connector disconnected = bad psu. *bad mb = problem lies w/in the mb & not outright bad mb per se.
    & i would still check the cmos batt w/ multimeter just to make sure it's not a dud.
    try this also, connect ONLY the ff to the mb: monitor, kb, mouse just to see f u can get it to post. f it does then return the other parts one part at a time & get it to post.

    yes, electronic parts can just bog down without due notice. that's the way it is.
