It depends if you believe in the church's policy or not, God is not tyrant who said "my children don't buy condoms for the sake of my kingdom" God understands reasons, that church policy is wrong, the church should stick the needs of the modern era.

Also The verse that God said to multiply was meant to equally distribute the people throughout the earth, but not meant to destroy the earth. If people multiply in the same area, the result is the devastation in the environment they lived.

the Church should not interfere w/ the gov't's effort to promote *** education, family planning and artificial birth control. Much more with condemning the condom industry...

i don't agree with this old article below. Who do u believe more on this issue, Archbishop Cruz and the religious leaders, or the survey?

Philippines’ government corruption to blame for poverty, say religious leaders
    April 30, 2007
    by Maurice Malanes
    Ecumenical News International
MANILA — An archbishop has derided a recent opinion survey suggesting that an unregulated population boom is the root of poverty in the Philippines where the majority Roman Catholic Church is opposed to the use of artificial birth control methods.

"The people in this country are poor not simply because of their number but rather on account of the endemic graft and pervasive corruption in their government,” Archbishop Oscar Cruz of Lingayen said in an April 23 statement. “The government directly and/or indirectly taxes each one of the millions of Filipinos. Yet it has a dismal performance in promoting their common good in return.”

Archbishop Cruz said that were it not for the population of the country, through the remittances of Filipino workers overseas, the government would not be able to keep the national economy afloat.

Figures show RP on track in achieving population target

    04/18/2008 | 08:20 AM
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Health (DOJ) on Friday said the population report released earlier this week could indicate that the country is on its way to achieving its population growth rate target of 1.95% by 2010.

In a radio interview, DOH Sec. Francisco Duque III said the increase in the country's population to 88.57 million showed that the country's population growth rate actually "slowed" to 2.04 percent last year.

In a report, the government said that the number of Filipinos grew nearly 16 percent to 88.57 million as of August 2007 from 76.50 million in May 2000.

The 2.04 percent population growth rate is a slowdown from the 2.34 percent average in 1990-2000 and is the lowest annual population growth rate recorded for the Philippines since the 1960s.
