this could be my preferred system

    Conservative entry level Octo-Core:

    2x Intel Xeon E5410 Harpertown 2.33Ghz (8 cores)
    Supermicro X7DCA-L dual-socket 771 uATX form factor
    12Gb ECC Registered DDR2 667 (6 sticks) memory
    GeForce 8800GTS 512mb DDR3
8GB 266x CompactFlash as boot drive w/ IDE adaptor
    2x500GB HDD
    Coolermaster Mystique chassis
    Hanns-G 28" HDMI LCD 1920x1200
Windows Pro X64 / SUSE linux

a pair of Xeons 5410 is cheaper than any single Core 2 extreme proc.
i'll stay away from FB-DIMMs, ECC RDIMMs lesser power consumption, cooler and cheaper
    could have been 9800GTX but it's the same G92-core as a cheaper 8800GTS 512.
could have been 30" Apple cinema LCD, but the price is double that of hanns-G 28"
i'll stay away from SLI or Crossfire.. just adds to electric bill
high speed compactflash are far cheaper than SSDs
and yes dual socket Workstation Mobo in a uATX form! http://www.supermicro.com/products/m...00/X7DCA-L.cfm
dont need overclocking. prefer a rock stable server grade system.

    wanna buy?
