    Default Wisdom of Buddha!

    There is no better virtue
    than a heart of grand compassion;

    There is no sweeter joy
    than a mind of quiet serenity.

    There is no purer truth
    than the existence of impermanence;

    There is no higher religion
    than the development of moral wisdom.

    What we are is the result of what we have thought,
    is built by our thoughts, is made up of our thoughts.
    If one speaks or acts with an impure thought,
    suffering follows one,
    like the wheel of the cart follows the foot of the ox.

    What we are is the result of what we have thought,
    is built by our thoughts, is made up of our thoughts.
    If one speaks or acts with a pure thought,
    happiness follows one,
    like a shadow that never leaves.

    "They insulted me; they hurt me;
    they defeated me; they cheated me."
    In those who harbor such thoughts,
    hate will never cease.

    "They insulted me; they hurt me;
    they defeated me; they cheated me."
    In those who do not harbor such thoughts,
    hate will cease.

    For hate is never conquered by hate.
    Hate is conquered by love.
    This is an eternal law.
    Many do not realize that we must all come to an end here;
    but those who do realize this, end their quarrels at once.

    Default Wisdom of Buddha!

    "Daoxin said to the Zen master Sengcan, 'I beg your compassion - please give me a way of liberation' Sengcan said, 'who is binding you?' Daoxin said, 'No on is binding me.' Sengcan said, 'Then why seek liberation?' At these words Daoxin was greatly englightened."

    "When mind is empty, pure knowledge has no wrong or right;
    Here i dont know what there is to bind or free.
    Even if you distinguish the elements of the body and mind,
    Seeing, hearing, sound and form, are ultimately not another."

    very nice thread...i am catholic but i have always liked buddhist teachings and try to "learn" more about it....

    Sammaditthi - right understanding....Buddha started his mission by asking his followers to develop right understanding rather than blind faith or belief.....this rings more true to me

    Hi gwyn

    yes the buddha taught that before following any precepts one should have a firm grasp of the teaching first before jumping into it.
