di man siguro english ang rason oi.. nganong mga hapon koreano ganahan manjud makat-on ug inenglis..
ang angay basolon ang mga tao raman pod na naa sa pwesto kay sila ang rason ngnaong pobre ang pilipinas
bisag asang sector naa ang corruption.. asta ga eskwela pa kusog na ganio mangarta sa ginikanan..hehe
i think, tis a matter of putting it in one place.
for instance, the japanese, koreans, chinese...they are much more into their language, keepin them intact. english is their second language.
they use it however, if the situation calls for itself.
however, we filipinos, the language is our first tounge...
and tis making us communicate more out to the world.
that makes us gaze upon them and look down on what we have.
its a matter of one's outlook.
case to case basis.
one person to another.
its in the person's mindset of how he directs his/her life.
we Filipinos deserve what we have right now.
life's ironies.
your right... my apologies...Originally Posted by Velvett

BUT ALL THAT BLAMING WILL RESULT TO NOTHING...
open your eyes... Look at Entrepreneur Magazine and you will realize nga naay na datu sige kada bulan... every day of every month ... theres new person that hits his "Im rich" mark...
so the idea of getting rich in the philippines is not dead!
the problem is... people are asking the wrong questions in their life...
stop asking
"Why is the Philipines poor, or why am I poor" - of course your finds and gives you an answers...
instead you should be asking...
"How can i get any richer" - Ill also guarantee you your brain will give you an answer to that...

let's start with your brilliant example: "DETOUR"
if we consider and apply your suggestion which is to use "LIKO DIRI" or "AGI DIRI" in lieu of "DETOUR", how many motorists would understand it given that "NOT ALL DRIVERS" are bisaya? what about the tagalogs? warays? ilonggos? ilocanos? what about the tourists from all over the world who navigate our roads?
do you think they would understand "LIKO DIRI"?
don't you think "THERE'S A REASON" why a "DETOUR" sign is usually followed by an "INTERNATIONALLY ACCEPTED ROAD SIGN" either a "left turn arrow", "right turn arrow" or a "U-Turn" sign?
all these: "ENGLISH LANGUAGE MAKES US POOR" just because of "ice water"..... tsk tsk tsk...
ice water
–noun
> water chilled with or as if with ice.
> melted ice.
> very cold or chilled water, especially for drinking, often with ice in it.
> water served ice-cold or with ice
dictionary
cold water
n. Informal
> Discouragement, deterrence, or deprecation, as of a proposal or an idea deemed silly or ill-advised
> disparagement of a plan or hope or expectation
-adjective
> denoting a room or apartment provided with only cold running water, often in a building with no central heating
dictionary
so given the dictionary description of both "ice water" and "cold water" which one would you use?
sometimes you need to double-check your examples 'coz most of the time, it will come and bite you in the arse.

why is it hard for people to understand that "WE FILIPINOS" are a dysfunctional bunch?
why blame english?
the english language isn't the one committing "bribery"? it sure didn't commit "corruption" neither did it engage in "under the table deals". where did you see the english language engage in "illegal smuggling" or "tax evasion"?
so why do you blame the "english language" again?
HELP ME PLEASE!!!!
I still couldn't figure it out....![]()
Shut Up! Let your GAME do the talking!
 to Dysfunctional bunch.
God save us from ourselves!
"JUST A WOMAN? Oh honey no!
I am awesome with a splash of bitch and a dash of wonderful.
funny lagi ni na topic.

I don't agree nga tungod kay naay mga tawo nga intawon dili makamao mo english mao nga poor dinhi sa pilipinas, we have our own culture, we should have our own language, pero that is not the reason why poverty stricken ang atong beloved country, gobierno nato ang priority nila padaku lang sa bulsa, and without further discussion, it takes a miracle to undo our country, mao na gyud na cia, ang pobre mosamut kapobre, pero inspite of all these, I still love the Philippines, I spent over half of my life in a foreign country but u can take the person away from his country but you cannot take the country away from the person, maybe in the not so distant future theres a chance for this country to be the best place to live in. The foreigners love the color of our skin, the fresh and abundance of seafoods, sunshine, and I know for a fact that those foreigners even spent their life's savings just to get here and sweep off the feet of our damsels......I know this for a fact because my best friend from Birmingham UK came over just to marry a filipina.... so its not that bad, we have our pros and cons. Long Live the Philippines!
@netspy -- u have ur opinion on things and u might think y people overreacted about the things your saying. Don't blame us bec. in the 1st place, u talked about politics and economics and so forth and then blaming it on English... I'm sorry if we have it all wrong but the idea itself and the title of this topic is "english makes us poor" is such a vague matter that the first idea that comes to ur mind reading this is that "what the hell is this guy saying?" ... mind you, i mean regarding this very vague subject, ENGLISH DOESN'T MAKE US POOR!!! in fact, because of English many job opportunities are here in our country. ang mga cal lcenters, ESL teaching, tutorial services and etc. and maski ang mga drivers ug mga conductor sa jip, kbw man maki gmay.. naa pa gni na clay, "please move a bit mam.. ug to the left sir.. ug stop here passenger coming." hehe...![]()
