The article I've read in the NBA says that highly unlikely na i-apply ang U-23 rule sa Rio Olympics unless mao jud nay first priority ni Stern, w/c I doubt.

It's the lack of financial gain from the league where the players are under contract . Aside from that , let's say LBJ get a serious injury that something would result to a decrease on his performance , production and playing time , the Heat would still have to pay the current contract they owed to him (2012-13 season: $17,545,000) .

What they proposed is that Olympics Basketball should be U-23 but no age-limit for FIBA World Championship (now called as FIBA World Cup) . However , the NBA proposed that countries who has NBA player/s on their roster would pay for the "services" (similar to a "loan" in soccer) to the player's NBA team . I'm sure other leagues would benefit from this too .

To find the middle ground , I think NBA would be contented to have a no age-limit for the Olympics Basketball or whatever FIBA tournaments as long as the "loan" will be implemented . IMO , I think that's all they're after . I'm worried if this happen though , Gilas would pay the Denver Nuggets if they end up getting McGee on their roster .
