There are many innovative ways to move water or even sea water and exploit this unlimited resource to our advantage. Our advantage of being 7000 islands means so many people can have access to sea water and the wealth that the sea water brings is just unimaginable. If you reverse engineer the success of Israel on agriculture, it boils down on their access to the sea.

Vegetables from Binghausen for sheikhs in Dubai

There is so much being told in this article that we may not know or how to do it when producing this special "vegetables", but whatever it is, I think one clue that we are sure of, is whatever we feed to the fish will go to the plant, what ever nutrient we put in the water for both the fish and the plant will definitely have an effect on both. We just need to figure out what is the best combination for this plant and fish and produce this "specialty" products that we can achieve by playing around with aquaponics. Surely, others have done their homework and so much money on research, since we don't have that much money we just have to do it by trial and error. Yet with all the natural "resources" at our disposal, we can!! as we they say in Singapore, Can and can do attitude is only the difference between Filipinos and Singaporeans...

Opportunity for ‘Grown your own’ school initiatives

Some ideas from europe where school children are taught in school to grow their own potato, for Philippine setting, what about teaching school children (as in Singapore) grow their own fish and veggies...set up a contest on different schools to produce the biggest tilapia, or the biggest cucumber or biggest tomato..

We should start to think to inculcate the concept of productivity and efficiency in food production, similar to the way we do in sports, innovate and work to be the best, practice to be champions...we can produce "pacmans(champions)" in food production and sustainability; after all what we are is God's gift to us, what we become is our gift to God....
