And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, “Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.”
And his disciples asked him, saying, “Why then say the scribes that Elijah must first come?”
And Jesus answered and said unto them, “Elijah truly shall first come, and restore all things. But I say unto you, that Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer them.”
Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist (Matthew 17: 9 – 13).
Question: How can Elijah be John the Baptist?
Possible answer: Through reincarnation
Of course there are those who would oppose this saying that the passage must be taken figuratively. But if taken figuratively, does it make real sense? For me, it does not since the names are very specific. If it was meant to be taken figuratively, it should have been vague or it in some other way. But then again, the passage does not actually support the EXISTENCE of reincarnation, rather it CAN imply that Jesus and his disciples BELIEVE in reincarnation.
