56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
John 8:56
Why Christ uttered this words?
Peace!
ask lang ko bro, what would you do if you received a gift like T-shirt (Lacoste) and was wrapped in a box with a nice wrapper?Originally Posted by Samsia
This question is in connection with the verse Ephesian 2:8, as widely claimed and used by many religious group and born-again movement.

Why Christ uttered this words? Because Abraham really saw His day
In Faith's Hall of Fame in Hebrews. Men of Faith [Abraham included]:
Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
They saw the fulfillment of the promises afar off. The promises may not have found fulfillment in their time, but they had faith on a God who cannot lie. A God who will surely fulfil all His promises. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" Hebrews 11:1.
These promises are all bound up in Christ:
Ga 3:16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, "And to seeds," as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed," who is Christ.
All God's promises will have a sure Yes and Amen in Christ [And there are NO HONEST MISTAKES WITH GOD]:
2Co 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him [Christ] Amen, to the glory of God through us.
Abraham by divine illumination understood that all the promises of God will find complete fulfillment in Christ of whom Isaac his son is only a type.
Why did you use Hebrew 11:13 and supported it with Hebrews 11:1?
in Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
but the pronouncement of CHrist:
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
John 8:56
and with this verse it didn't mentioned about the promise, about the substance of things hoped for and Christ was not yet introduced and Abraham didn't know that it was Christ that he saw.
Peace!
