hello spookey. the best advice i can give you are the following.... ONE -- the rule is....get the kubyertos outside going in...the ones farthest from your hands first. and TWO -- if you are in doubt....OBSERVE what your boss uses...then use the same.

    @ spookey

I agree, it would be very impressive if you know your dining etiquette. If you work in a big company, I suggest you ask your
Training Mgr to invite someone to talk about this subject. We do that every year specially for managers scheduled to leave the
country for sales calls or road trips, etc... The best persons to contact would be Food & Bev Mgrs from 5 star hotels, owners of
Restaurants, or try contacting this organization called Chaine de Rotisseurs (international group of people who love to eat, fine dining
    style).
But if this is out of the question...well, you could try what Ms. Beau mentioned...personality development courses. OR you could
treat me to a fine dining dinner and I would be glad to teach you the basics. hahahaha

    Some tips:
    1. If your talking about fine dining in cebu...then dont fret too much. Fine dining here is almost casual. hehe As mentioned, just
start from the outside going in. Great advice from D'monyita..hehe look to your boss.
    2. Drinking soup: you can scoop going in OR out..just be consistent. dont scoop soup going in then out hehehe
    3. Salads...DONT cut your leaves. Learn to fold it using your fork and knife until its thick enough to pierce w/ fork
    4. Dont use a 'sawing' motion when cutting through meat and poultry...press down w/ knife and remove using fork. if its too tough, return it hehehe
    5. use fork and knife..NEVER use the underside of fork (concave part), always use the backside. meaning, you should never
use the fork like a spoon..learn to pile food ontop of the fork (convex side) and bring it to your mouth hehe easier said than
done but w/ practice itll be cool hehe Oh and never put the knife into your mouth.
    6. dont interchange the knife and fork while having dinner (knife to right hand, fork to left hand)
    7. Oh forgot...bread (served as starters)...NEVER make a sandwhich by cutting it in the middle using ur knife and inserting the butter
inside...I see this happening alot with Filipinos. Use ur clean hands, get the bread get a chunk small enough for one or 2 bites, spread
some butter then eat it while leaving the rest of the bread in yuor bread plate. Do this until you finish.
    8. drinking wine...if theres a stem to the glassware, hold the stem. thats safe. When drinking coffee...dont insert your fingers into the hook...pinch it. the hook is only for the cupboards

Lastly...dont worry if you make a mistake They wont charge you for it hehehe ENJOY your meal and remember that etiquette is
so that you dont offend other people in the dining table. So for as long as everybody is happy and you dont look too hungry or too
uncomfortable, then you will do well

Hope that helped. Enjoy the fine dining experience. YUMMY.

great now we have a visual...lets continue the lessons hehe how many courses was this Gwyn? I would guess 6? 7?

this can be confusing cause they r using just 1 kind of spoon/fork/knife...but anyway, it can be done. so to the farthest right from
plate is the salad knife, then the soup spoon, then entree knife, then main course knife. The farthest left is the salad fork, entree fork
then main course fork. the ones above, u use for your dessert. there are 3...dessert knife (fruits, cake..etc) dessert spoon (sorbet..
usually served inbetween courses to cleanse your palate) then the glassware....dont worry, they will pour the wine to you so im sure
you wont go wrong hehehe just remember, the one with the larger diameter (glass opening) is for red wine as your wine needs air
to bring out the flavor, the white is a bit smaller in diameter as boquet is weaker then sparkling needs to be small in diameter and
lengthy in shape to allow the bubbles to rise (sparkling wines are a showoff hehehe)

napkin just put it on your lap naturally, if you stand up put it beside your plate. never on the seat.

and dats it! if you want to learn to eat a particular food, let me know which one. ill see if I can answer.

spookey pls... NEVER put the napkin like a bib ha... di ka na baby.... also, correct me if i am wrong....the napkin should remain folded at the middle.... unfold it kung fancy ang fold BUT retain the middle fold... that way you say that you are an adult and not a messy eater.

and to add to that.... NEVER twirl too many strands of spaghetti....u will run the risk of having too big a bite as well as a bigger chance mag-pisik ang sauce. ewwww....

I eat with fork only. I never use a spoon. Yes the napkin should be on the lap. And also, remove both your elbows from the table when you eat. Both elbows should be tucked to your sides. When eating noodles like Spaghetti, twirl the fork around the Spaghetti or noodles. When passing out a basket of bread, dont take out the bread from the basket and hand it to the person. Pass the basket with the bread in it to the next person. When you come to America, you are going to need to learn proper food etiquette and manners kaayo.
