as what i know in this case, the patient was informed by the attending surgeon that they will have it on video for educational purposes..
the problem is that the video taking was not proper enough for education of medical practitioners... and sad thing, they posted the video for public view with all those mocking laughters and cheering inside the OR..

^^ I don't know if "itoy" is the right word. We don't treat nurses like "itoys". They carry out orders written in the chart or specified by the physicians. At the same time they also have job descriptions that go beyond just following orders. In fact, in my experience, usahay manugo man gane silag doctor. hehehe..

Anyway, there are instances where video documentation of a procedure can be done, but it's not that easy. And you can't do it with a camera phone. You have to ask for consent from both parties (patient and hospital), then ensure the confidentiality of the videos, as it is to be used solely for teaching purposes. The VSMMC guys had it all wrong. The documentation is just an excuse. Yet this is again another lapse in the public health system.

Then again, while anybody will notice that the VSMMC physicians are quite the rude type, I've also seen the most compassionate doctors in that hospital who shell out their allowances or even part of their salary just to help their patients. Dli lang jud na ma news. hehehe..

OT: itoy jud?? wa ko magnars para lng ma itoy... and i dont feel na murag itoy.. doctors and nurses are teammates. doctors are the brains and we as nurses ang nagperform sa ilang nahuna2xan ^_^

para nko luoy jd ang patient ani.. it was clearly not for educational documentation. very irresponsible of the medical team na i kalat ni nga video. i feel bad sa patient... ang kaulaw lng ani.. dapat jd naay managot!
