After EDSA 2, we were out of the frying pan. But now, we're burning after jumping right into the fire. Worse, the government has transfigured into a fiery hell steered by no less than, in the words of Albay Governor Salceda, "the luckiest b*tch around". And although Salceda's tongue may soon have a full meal of the rantings of "the luckiest b*tch around", it is most likely that she must have really been lucky. After all, how lucky can one be after shunning two impeachment complaints and derailing a couple of coup attempts? To say the least, the lapdogs of the queen have barked relentlessly against its detractors, quite apart from personifying the essence of a canine which is, in its most grotesque form, commendable for a bone.

It was an apparent last-ditch effort to save face after a joke about President Arroyo.

"Baka nasabi ni Neri, she is civil (Maybe Neri said, she is civil)," Albay Gov. Joey Salceda, also one of the President's economic advisers, said during Wednesday's lecture at the Ateneo Center for Economic Research and Development.

He said Mrs. Arroyo's critics may have misheard former socioeconomic planning chief and now Commission on Higher Education chief Romulo Neri.

The presidential adviser jokingly referred to the President as the "luckiest b*tch around" amid mounting calls for the President to step down because of corruption allegations.

"Alam naman nating lahat at alam naman ni Presidente na masuwerte siya. [She] may be a b*tch but she’s the luckiest b*tch around," said Albay Gov. Joey Salceda.

(We all know that the President is lucky. She may be a b*tch but she's the luckiest b*itch around.)

The governor’s "joke" made everyone laugh -- including himself -- after noticing that a television news crew was covering the event.

"Naku may TV nga pala (Oh, I forgot that there's a TV crew here)," said Salceda.
