Another group has extended their support to help in securing the 12th Asean Summit that will be held in Cebu on December this year. The International Criminal Police Organization offered their technical support for this grand event. Our government has plan to deploy some 14,000 police enforcers and the Interpol plans to bring with them some international expertise, international best practices, and access to international information to the investigation and to allow the international law enforcement community to build on its institutional learning in its shared fight against terrorism.
The plans will start to move once they have recieved a request from our country.

Thailand coup won't affect Asean Summit in Cebu
Monday, September 25 2006 @ 06:27 PM BST
Political changes in member-countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), particularly the coup 'd etat in Thailand, will not affect the Asean Leaders' Summit set in in Cebu December, a senior Philippine diplomat said.
Ambassador Marciano Paynor, secretary general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit's National Organizing Committee (NOC), said the bloodless military's ouster of Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra would not result in changes in the official documents that will be signed at the 12th Asean Summit.
Paynor said among the vital documents which will be signed by the Asean leaders include the Asean Charter to be known as the Cebu Declaration.
Other documents regarding regional security and environment will also be signed, he said.
Paynor said the resolutions which will be signed by the leaders are prepared well ahead during a series of ministerial meetings, one of which was held in New York City where Asean leaders have gathered for the United Nations General Assembly.
Paynor, who is also presidential adviser on state and foreign visits, said the NOC is expecting three new prime ministers at the summit. These are from Vietnam, Thailand, and dialog partner Japan.
Vietnam will be represented by its new Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who was elected early this month.
Thailand's ruling junta had announced that a new prime minister may be chosen this week.

Firecracker sale limited during Asean Summit
Monday, September 25 2006 @ 06:38 PM BST
Lapu-Lapu City police officials are strictly monitoring the sale of firecrackers for the Christmas season because of the Asean Leaders’ Summit in Cebu in December.
Julian Pongasi Sr., explosives and pyrotechnics consultant of the Lapu-Lapu City government, said local officials and the police agreed on new rules in selling fireworks.
The robust fireworks industry in the city is only allowed to sell to their regular customers.
Firecracker purchases of more than P5,000 also needed a permit from the Firearms Explosives and Security Agencies Guards and Supervisory Section (FESSAGS) of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 in Cebu City.
New buyers also need to present a clearance from the police, Pongasi said.
”We want to be sure that terrorists won’t buy explosive chemicals from us,” he stressed.
