Its ok if its backed up with praise and recognition. Combination of those ba.![]()
to quote lytslpr, it is just all in a matter of putting it in the proper perspective in the kid's young mind.im not bought on the idea of giving even material things for good grades as it will form a habit for the child.
material things such as money? i guess reasonable amount of money won't hurt. if you do this early on it will serve as a training for responsible finance management.
it is satisfying for kids to know that you trust them enough to give them money and that they get a chance to buy things that they want. the key here is how well you can guide them on how to be prudent and thrift.
nyaha. 5 wives is too much, 2 or 3 will do.a bride gyud? ah, err... what's that about 5 wives again? hehe, just kidding!j/k
i know it won't hurt, but i still don't agree. if financial management is what u want for your kid, u can teach him/her to be prudent and thrifty with his/her allowance...an increase in allowance as a reward is also fine...Originally Posted by maia21

im not even comfortable on giving money to my godchildren during xmas...i see to it that i give more valued gifts such as toys or clothes, but not money.
yes, i think an increase in allowance works well (based on experience) and i consider it a very effective reinforcement but still it is a monetary reward and is not so different with receiving money for getting good grades.i know it won't hurt, but i still don't agree. if financial management is what u want for your kid, u can teach him/her to be prudent and thrifty with his/her allowance...an increase in allowance as a reward is also fine...
yes, you're right. can you elaborate on this? how more creative?but giving money to kids for getting good grades is some kind of "easy way" on the part of the parents even though u put the matter in proper perspective. Parents can be more creative u know.
ai purita. nyahaha. j/k.im not even comfortable on just giving money to my godchildren during xmas...i see to it that i give more valued gifts such as toys or clothes, but not money.![]()
don't think so. it's important to teach the child the future rewards...what if mapordoy or mamatay ang naghatag ug kwarta?![]()
such kind of rewards system teaches only the child to work only him/herself than for others.
is it a bad thing?Originally Posted by brownprose
in the first place, the purpose of this kind of reward system is to motivate the kid and to reinforce the desired behavior.
if you look at it in another view it's still bribing kanang awards2x.. only in different form..Originally Posted by giddyboy
still it depends on parents, on how to raise their children... either u'll hav it w/ money or not...
