OT: 3400 and 3600 HD series had been launched last jan.23AMD Radeon HD 3870 X2
The fastest card today, once again, carries the AMD signature, after a long domination by NVIDIA. Based on two RV670, the HD 3870 X2 suffers, however, in part from its conception and isn't as thrilling as a new chip, like a real R680, would have been.
Pros
* The most powerful 3D Card
* DirectX 10.1 support and possibility to add another card
* UVD Inside (Avivo HD)
Cons
* High noise and power consumption at peak
* Small difference compared to a 8800 Ultra
* Few bugs due to internal CrossFire affect performance

surely a SLI config of a 8800GT beats a HD3870x2... but imagine 2 x HD3870x2 in CF! \m/
It certainly will, considering that the 3870X2 is the fastest single card solution in the market as of today.Originally Posted by akera
IMO, however, the 8800GT is still a more preferable card. Considering the performance gain of a 3870X2 over an 8800GT, its not worth the extra bucks.
::we commend AMD/ATi for making a card that could beat nVidia::
I must say, however, that I'm quite disappointed with the gains that this card has over the previous gen nVidia cards. These gains are not "very impressive". In order for them to stay on top, they should get an update real soon, a better driver perhaps. In no time, the competition can get a newer, faster card (Assuming the 9800GX2 wouldn't smoke as the 7950GX2).
