second... SPECS
- intel based ( remember this ) 7series with 800mhz fsb .4mb 0f unified cache.
- 2gb of ram
- ( SLI video on your laptop? ) ..just kidding ( but is real ) . an 8600 or higher videocard
- at least 200 gb 7200 sata HDD ( heard of RAID0 on laptop? )
- 17" lcd
- dvd writer
other than this are standard parts.
third... NOT A MAC.. be practical.
- u are buying the name with mac.not the performance..( those who say otherwise..welcome to the new world!..try google for specs. ) they use intel parts thats found on a wintel laptop.
- the real advantage of a MAC is its OS ( it can support higher than 4gb of RAM ) coz its 64bit and all it apps are native 64bit designed specifically for the MAC OS X++. : refer to second paragraph : 2gb of ram
- its very expensive.. looks?..have u seen an HP voodoo envy?
- u can install OS X leopard on ur pc laptop..
durability....not a dell or HP.. ( exploding batteries? ..hahaha ) they are ranked as no. 1 and 2 in the US market..

It's like buying a car you know. The first step is to figure out what you need it for. Do you want a small hatchback for easy parking on the city? A sedan for the family? A people-mover for the extra extended family? A 4-wheel drive for that weekend offroading? Or a luxury sports car perhaps if you're desperate to get laid?
The same applies when buying a laptop I reckon. Do you just want a entry level one that can do the basic stuff? Do you need it for business use? Do you need a roadwarrior when you're out n bout? Are you a gamer perhaps and want a gaming laptop? Do you want the bells and whistles of a PC but want the chassis of a notebook so maybe a desktop replacement laptop will suit you? Are are you very conscious of it's weight and want something very light, thin, and anorexic like an ultra-portable one?
Like Earlz said, the OP needs to be more specific (so we could narrow it down) rather just asking. "I need a laptop, what's good?"
What's the point of listing all these brands, models, and specs if it doesn't fit the OP's needs, requirements, and budget.
