That screwed up my upgrade path big time...
A lot of enthusiasts were eyeing Phenom as an upgrade processor for their aging X2 systems.... and how does AMD reward thos people who didnt go for C2D? They release a processor that doesnt work with their existing systems...
At least the newer Pentium 4's using LGA775 were able to upgrade to Core 2 Duo.
The thing is... AMD designed the Phenom to be compatible with existing AM2 sockets... good intentions... terrible execution...
True AMD has really had a bad mistake advertising that.
Yes p4 mobos are compatible with core 2 duo. Were talking about older generation motherboards and its compatibility with quad core processors. I doubt that motherboards those that are built on the p4 era will support quad core even if its LGA775.
Intel also has LGA775 motherboards that are not compatible with quad cores chipsets that is Lower than P965 chipset.
WHo cares if those old Nvidia AM2 570 or 590 chipsets are not compatible with phenom. Those chipsets are not worthy for a Phenom quadcore. I mean those are prehistoric chipsets.
