i do a agree...even in haiti and in many latin american countries...however the extent of involvement is not as widespread as we have here...we have RC, INC, and other denominations endorsing their own candidates. I am afraid that in the future, these groups will require their members to vote by reason of religious affiliation than by conscience or personal choice.

i personally believe they (religious groups) should shun from endorsing a candidate or political party. the business of churches is to impart wisdom to their flock to choose/determine the rightful candidate for themselves.

For me the church anc politics must not mix. This stems out from the church's early history of wanting to attain power.

Sobra na kayo kung ang mga simbahan mag apil apil pa gyud sa kalihukan sa Gobyerno. Church is one thing and the government is another, when churches take sides and vote for someone rhen dinha dali na kaayo sakyan sa mga politico nga nag y@w@ y@w@ and ga lawgaw lang.

If churches want that then naa sad silay mga hidden motives, there is no difference then sa mga businessmen nga makig amigo lang sa politicians for business favors, security and illegal business practices.

If the church wants to do something about politics then it should be in a different field. I have heard of churches talk about politics on a church day and katawanan kayo paminawon. mas maayo pa maminaw nalang og balita.

Ang mga politicians pud na mogamit sa platform sa churches, paka ulaw sad. church leaders should know better nga gigamit ra sila. Of course politicians will seek advice but will not follow these advices.

Sa kadaghan sad sa churches and denominations and groups, not to mention all the cults (Christian and non alike) and the non-christian churches...

kinsa man gyud nga advice ang paminawon sa politiko.

for me church and politics must never mix!

A church looks after the spiritual welfare of its members, while a government looks after the common good (at least, the material welfare). A church leader gives advice, while a government leader (executive branch) has the power to compel obedience with the law.

Imagine a reversal in powers - a church leader who can compel obedience and a government leader who can only give advice. =)
