With all due respect, Senator Revilla should've kept his mouth shut and should've gotten his facts straight first. My oh my, if only WETA (Peter Jackson et al) could hear bout this..

One thing I noticed sa Exodus website...they're using the same font for the LOTR logos.

the trailer was good but ambot ka ha the movie itself... im not really into philippine movies, makalagot mn gud usahay coz sun-on mn nila ang concept sa uban na foreign films, wa nay originality... gi-gastohan jud ug dako ni nga salidaha...

I just watched the movie last night. I'm basing my opinion on philippine movies and asian movies. Well, I think EXODUS is great. It has a nice storyline, nice choice of stars, the design is also good, the locations were good, the fight scenes are well choreographed, and nice CGI (may be not yet on par with hollywood but you can appreciate the talents of fil cgi artists and how far this industry is now).

For the story/plot, its fairly nice. But I believe it need more detail could have been better. ^_^

As for the choice of stars, I think they made the right choice. Tayho, the tikbalang, is rightfully played by Benjie Paras 'coz he's big and a comedian w/c is need for the role. Silab, the santelmo, is played by Tolits w/c is a good choice in order to rally some children to watch the movie. Bangkila, the aswang, is played by Aubrey Miles. She is also a good choice for this part because she looks good in a sexy-devlish kind of way. lol. Lin-ay, the diwata, is played by Iya Villania. I believe she was a good pick for this fairy role 'coz she really has a beautiful face. ^_^ As of the Exodus role, I strongly believe that it is not a choice. lol.

As for the design, it was also good. Benjie as the blue "tikbalang" looks great. Aubrey's post-apocalyptic "aswang" costume rocks! (I really like this concept/design) Nothing special with Iya's costume though. I have to say that Tolits' wig really is not very nice to look at. lol. As for Bong's armor (two types), I believe that they were good. I really like the second one though (the headgear was nice). Some would say that it was copied from this or that but maybe the design was just inspired by those. There's nothing wrong with that. ^_^

As for the location, it was nice. Nothing really special though. But it depicted what it had to for the movie. ^_^

As for the fight scenes, I think they were great. However, they were a lil bit short. Maybe an extra 30mins or more could have helped them but generally they were a OK. ^_^ I really liked the fight scene of Exodus and Haring Bagulbol. The sword fight was superb. It was well choreographed. Best I've seen in a Filipino Movie. ^_^

As for the well "boasted" 1,000 CGI of the movie, I believe it was really good. However, it is not without flaws. I think that on some CGI you can really appreciate how far our industry is now. It's really good and is very much on par with other asian CGI. (GO! Philippines) There are just a couple of loose strings that could have been ironed out. A couple of CGIs that really need much detail and much more textures. Aside for those certian loose strings, this is a movie that once-again brings filipino CGIs one notch up. ^_^

Overall, I strongly recommend filipinos to watch this movie. ^_^ Its a great fantasy movie with a filipino flavor. You can also appreciate how this movie is bringing up the standard of filipino movie industry one notch up. ^_^ The CGIs were also great and were a great portal on how much we progressed in this division. This movie is a good movie for the young and the young at hearts alike. ^_^

NOTE: PLEASE! PLEASE! Don't Expect a Movie on par with Hollywood Movies 'coz I gurantee that you will be disappointed. Just have an open mind about this and appreciate the filipino movie industry. I believe if you do this you'll have a great time and will really appreciate how the standard of filipino movie industry has gone so far. ^_^

oh don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting hollywood calibur either.

    here's my take...

The film has so much potential...but it just fell flat...where? sa story and characterization.

I think they were so absorbed in the cinematography and production design that they forgot to strongly integrate the story direction and characters.
    which was annoying....

lThe characters weren't really explored very well, they were more like cardboard cutouts standing next to Bong Revilla.
even at the end of the movie, I didn't feel attached to any of the characters...which is bad....
at the trailwer, I was so impressed, this different type of characters with different personalities/races are gonna collide, this is gonna be cool, i thoguht to myself.

like Wan_eye said, Aubrey miles look cool in her cybver punk outfit, and I was psyched to know how she;ll deal with the other characters, seeing she is an aswang, however, that was not the case, she was just stale and boring, not the Gothic Raven(teen Titans) type of girl, she didn't showoff any ASWANG like traits or personality(just a little though). and I was even shock when she said in the end "Karangalan ko po na maitulong ka Exodus" or something, for crying out loud! your an aswang be cooler like saying "heh! tama na nga to, gusto ko na kumain ng tao!" or something...

also, when the engkanto were trying to decide if they should go with exodus, Siilab (Tolits) agreed by saying "Sama ako! masaya e!" errr...where in the point of the film na gi pakita na masaya siya sa pagkuyog nila? walay motivation ba in screenwriting term, kalit2x. dinali-an

unya Exouds spends some time reflecting on his EMO self...which I really didn't care about...shedding a tear...oh PLEASE DIE!!!

now for the fight scenes...they were great! howevwer, they didn't PEAK...in laymans term...anti-climatic...

I was so happy when badass aubrey miles is gonna fight those flying things...then minutes later...she just killed them...mura bag "Ha?! mao ra to!" murag roller coaster na gi putol lang dayun. even ang final Battle ni Exodus ug ni Jayr lacked Tension between them...mura lag wala...nindot unta to kung naa siila PRE BATTLE conversation y'know ala KOF to highten the climax like Jayr saying "Exodus! I had *** with your father! bwahahaha!" "NOOO!!!!!!!" or something...

now with production Design, nindot siya I admit pero I think there ae just points in the sotry na gi over production design just to look cool or weird pero wa gi tagaan ug depth or motivation sa story...just for the sake...COOL siya tanawn.

For example....HAring Bagulbol's(Jayr) fetish for grand masks and overdresses....sure, intimidating siya tanawn..pero ngano mag ingon ana man gyud siya? wiill those mask strengthen him to +5 STR? +6 AGI? ngano man?

then there's that king-like character sa human resistance...i think si paolo bediones to ga play...there's like a weird tube attached to his head and attached to another two fat guys that repeat what he says in a weird voice...COOL and weird diba? pero ngano man? ngano ingon ana man siya? unya dapit sa end, kadtong nihawa siya sa underground base nila, naa gihapon siya pero gi close up nalang unya wa ni gi pakita ang two fat guys...

Exodus costume i\looks cool though, the breastplate is just distracting...pero iyang upgrade armor, naay helmet....THAT ONLY COVERS HIS FACE!!!

"ROAR!!! I'm a warrior! with an intimidating face helmet, you can hit any other Vital place in my head but never my beautiful face!!!" mura bag just for the sake ASTIG ra siya tanawn ba.

CINEMATOGRAPHY though is Top tier!! I'll agree with that! no complaints there! breathtaking aerial shots and dollies work very well with the film...

sadly...this would've been a great movie...it just got screwed with the bad characterization and some story flaws...

got more on my mind pero nakalimot ko...next time nalang...

hehe, don't take my word for it lang...my rule has always been "Don'e hate...investigate" this film might appeal to others...it just didn't to me...na sayangan ko sa potential sa film.

however, there is one REDEEMING VALUE this film has....

kung mupalit kag ticket...YOU GET ONE FREE ENCHANCTED KINGDOM DAYPASS!!!!!

a normal daypass will cost you around P500, pero kini, P75 lang, naa ka salida, naa pa ka free EK na ticket hehe...mubalik baya ko manila kay mag EK mi nila nathan hehe...

uhhmmm...naay blatant kaayo na product placement ang EK before the movie starts, hehe
