Seems I have to wait for a stable release for my test card to be released at http://macvidia.plusmediamusic.com or get an ATI/Radeon card

cooldude, sori but kanang na-a sa list are all consumer soundcards and none for pro applications except the firewire 410 which is actually pro-entry level. General use man gud na ang gi pang post. We can test with professional audio equipment to really know how well it works. For gaming, useless man na ang mac, for general use more of the ease of use and elegance, but sa multimedia, that is where it excells. So it would be nice to test OSX86 for stuff like video editing/rendering, audio recording and mixing. I'm interested to test if willing ka we can set up a session for that.

cooldude, you can then post the results for pro audio interfaces like motu traveller, m-audio delta 1010LT, and apps like logic 7, dp4, cubase, protools, and reason. I can even get final cut pro to test it with. Those are the really important multimedia apps and hardware where you will see the difference and advantages of Mac OSX platform. Then we can confidently say if OSX86 is up to its pure-bred cousin in terms of performance. The Mac is not really for general use, it is for SEXY general use and more for high-power multimedia use. Kana maoy nindot i-test.

Out of curiosity ra man ni ang pag-try out nako sa Mac OS X x86...
I'm not really into full-time testing. If you want to try it out, why not try it yourself

ah ok, I'll probably do that in the future.
As much as your curiosity extends to your games, my curiosity extends on the performance advantage of the mac in the multimedia field, if OSX86 works as well in that field or not.

If you really want to make the most out of your of your pc for audio recordings, etc., there is one "unofficial" stripped-down xp sp2 version aimed for music production computers.

A lot of the regular Windows Services has been disabled, aswell as
a bunch of the standard applications bundled with Windows.

Included on this CD are a couple of the major programs needed
to get started with music production such as CUbase SX3 and
Wavelab 5. There are also 14 of the branch leading VST-modules
in reliable releases by the best audio software crackers!

Below is a complete list of what's included in separate folders
    on the CD:

    1. Audio Drivers
    M-Audio Delta WDM 5.10.0.5051.exe

    2. Audio Software
    Steinberg.Cubase.SX.v3.1.1.944-XXX
    Steinberg.WaveLab.v5.01a-XXX

    3. Vst & DX Modules
    Antares.Autotune.DX.v4.12-XXX
    Applied.Acoustics.Lounge.Lizard.EP.VSTi.DXi.v3.0-XXX
    Arturia.CS80.V.v1.5-XXX
    Arturia.Moog.Modular.V2.v1.0-XXX
    IZotope.Ozone.DX.VST.RTAS.v3.07.XXX
    Korg.Legacy.Collection.VSTi.v1.0.02-XXX
    Linplug.Albino.VST.v2.0-XXX
    Native.Instruments.B4.ToneWheels.Bundle.v1.11-XXX
    Native.Instruments.Spektral.Delay.v1.57-XXX
    Novation.V-Station.VSTi.v1.20-XXX
    Ohmforce.Ohmboyz.PRO.VST.v1.42-XXX
    Prosoniq.OrangeVocoder.VST.v2.02-XXX
    Waves.Native.Platinum.Bundle.v4.0.VST.DX.RTAS.XXX
    Voxengo.Voxformer.VST.v1.0-XXX

    4. Other Sowtware
    Damn.NFO.Viewer.2.0.1.b2
    Winrar.v3.40.Swe.Final.XXX
Note: I've edited the quote a bit to remove the "warez group" (replaced with XXX). It's up to you to find it out. Will not be entertaining questions where to get this.

@joel oporto: In addition, the mac osx x86 version "readily available on the net", IMHO, isn't for professional audio and video productions since you won't find any drivers (kext) developed for professional quality audio and video cards but there are some small groups probably doing some driver development. It's up to you to find them. The development of drivers for these drivers would be very slow since even the macnvidia group doing nvidia driver development for mac osx x86 are still in alpha stage driver development and the drivers they are developing are mostly for gaming video cards. If I were you, I wouldn't use the "current" mac os x86" as an audio development OS...

well I've been working professionally on audio on the PC since 1995, MIDI since 1990, and I have ALL the possible apps, plugins, vst, vsti, RTAS you can ever think of in the pc, and tested most of them. I've also worked on apple apps in the pre-MAC days with performer and opcode vision. I have set up most major studios' PC here in cebu including protools/Logic for Bigfoot Global Solutions. You don't need a stripped down version of SP2 like XP lite, maybe 4yrs. ago, you just need enough cpu, ram power and the right app. Some apps work better and some are more power hungry. Same thing with plugins and effects. For example, you can get more track count from cool edit ( because you can use multiple drive storage spaces), cakewalk and cubase(because of inherent software design) than say vegas or samplitude or protools LE. I can say these because I've tested them not because somebody on the net tells me.
If Firewire on the OSX86 works and MOTU/presonus/creamware/RME firewire audio interfaces are not listed on the known compatible soundcards, especially when only consumer soundcards are listed, then you can safely assume that they haven't tested those pro interfaces and their testing was only limited to consumer hardware and apps. It is just to guide you in your testing. In pioneering instances like OSX86, You can not rely entirely on other peoples' findings but you have to test it yourself and even just to test other people's results. So when you get something new, you let it go through its paces just as you did with your games.
I don't need to "use" mac OSX86 as an audio development OS, I have my PC for that or I can buy a G5 if need be, but it is for my own knowledge database. For Example, way back 1998, I was one of the few to report to Motu that their mainstay PCI324 cards had compatibility problems with via chipsets on the PIII mobos, which was subsequently fixed with new drivers. Or When Bigfoot decided to use the "new" dual proc G4 with OSX for their pro tools LE studio, I was able to advice them to wait until protools 6.0 came out because Pro tools 5 LE was not compatible with OSX.

Testing is the essential to doing a product review which is what you are actually doing.
