Yokam = Y
Pseudosurgeon = P

Yokam = 12
Pseudosurgeon = 3

Y = P + 9
Y = 2P

P + 9 = 2P
2P - P = 9
P = 9

When PseudoSurgeon is 9 years old, thus 9 - 3 = 6

Answer: after 6 years

2nd Solution:

Midway between 12 and 3 is 6, thus 12 + 6 =18, and 3 + 6 = 9.

Answer: after 6 years

3rd solution:

12 - 3 = 9; 9 - 3 = 6

Answer: after 6 years

Checking (after 6 years):

Yokam: 12 + 6 = 18
PseudoSurgeon: 3 + 6 = 9
