@jologz, so mga pila kaha kung ibaligya ang p990i nga 3 months na? kay im selling mine kay naa ko iphone..
Re: se p990i or N80?
Re: se p990i or N80?
 It's up to you miss coz you are the seller. Factors to consider about pricing of your fone would be it's condition, months used, warranty, memory card if upgraded already and accessories that are included with the unit you are selling..anyway murag lisod man ibaligya ang p990i coz of it's bug issues and currently I think there are 2 or 3 other p990i sellers who hasn't sold their fone yet in the B&S section..Originally Posted by codenurse

 With the right firmware updates this phone actually shines. Daghan na unta prepared to buy the more expensive P1i, but when the latest updates for the P990i began to surface, a lot of people held back. I guess this is why it's been phased out na, to force other people to buy the P1i. Pero this is a great phone dyud, if the right updates are in place, and of course, you know how to squeeze out its full potential.Originally Posted by jologz

Re: se p990i or N80?
 Not really an expert, but since I do want to get this phone I've done my homework, and these are the results.
There are several ways to do this. The safest method I can think of (but probably the most expensive one) is to go to an SE Service Center and have the CDA changed.
- First, determine the phone's current CDA...instructions and table for checking here...
- CDA Listing (look up Philippines) then compare the phone's current CDA and the Philippines entries...
http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/CDA/P990i
- Then, go to the SE Service Center, tell them what the phone's current CDA is, and tell them which CDA you need for the phone (based on the chart).
For the next two methods, first a disclaimer--I cannot he held liable for any problems that may arise if you follow these steps. I merely posted them here because someone needed information, and here it is.
- The next method you can do is to simple go here:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?...21839&esi=true
- Download the update (it updates itself to whatever most recent files it has), it's 30+ mb lang.
- Run it (I tried it, it's quite good, you need a rock solid internet conneciton though, so be sure you have it).
You will see the following very easy to follow screens:

Of course, since wala pa ko'y P990i, I cannot tell you if the update was successful or not hehehe, but if I do get one, I think I'll update the phone this way--sayon ra kaayo, user friendly kaayo nga program.
Now, the third method, mura man gud ni pang expert or phone tech... I saw this site eh:
http://setool.net/support/SETool2_Software/
It's supposed to help you update the CDA, but I get lost in all the technical jargon, so I don't think I'll fiddle around with this program unless I educate myself more on these things.
Basta kato. BTW what do you expect after a P990i firmware upgrade? Kani...
* better memory management, give users as much free ram as possible with no memory leaks - disable transition option (this way we could stop using that video trick and free up some more ram)
* Problems with contact administration with Flip off repaired
* Store management improves
* Camera pictures are stored for the moment releasing
* Photos are faster stored
* Formulations in menus changes
* Back Button with ActivityMenu inserted

* Improvements in performance
* Registration by SMS is inquired at first boat
* Again: Bestätigigungston with terminating the discussion

That's all so far. Whew kapoy mag type. hihihi
UPDATE: Battery Life
Based on my research, if your P990i is older model it might have the BST-33 battery, which drains fast daw (how fast? One guy said his standby was only 48 hours), esp. if the backlight and 3G mode is always on. To turn off 3G mode, do this:
- Go to Control Panel-->Connections-->Mobile Networks
- Click on the top menu and select GSM/3G networks.
- Here you get the option of selecting GSM only, 3G only or GSM and 3G.
The SE published battery life is:
Stand-by - Up to 400 h
Talk time - Up to 9 h
I don't know if the BST-34 is available in Cebu though, but this battery is the one that was intended for the P990i and matches the figures above. Thus I also want this battery for it. Any info on this will be helpful.

 nice info rodsky.
same here, nahan pud ko sa p990i. planning to buy one since barato na siya.
btw, unsa mana ang CDA?
Re: se p990i or N80?
Re: se p990i or N80?
 words of advise from someone's whos had both phones:
1. p990 is not bad
but the unit is not as durable as it seems. the battery life is so so at 1 and a half days of good usage. its the flip keypad that seems to be getting a lot of bad rap. its not durable at all and a lot of people including me have experienced it not working all of a sudden. thats 3k down the drain for that part. parts for this phone is bloody expensive. the phone is also a little buggy. kusog mu kalit ug restart with 3rd party apps and even the browser is hard to use
2. n80 is not a good unit
the phone features cant be beaten but the battery life is really poor. fitting the small battery into this unit was a mistake by nokia. the browser is not bad though. camera is not bad for a 3mp but there are better like the k800 or even the n73
if you want a wifi phone there are newer phones out there with better performance. if the price range is the problem, look for a used e61. should be around 10k nalang. if not try your luck with a brand new unit. if you want the best option, p1i is really rock solid and stable.
