kinsa man pud ang m0-pr0vide sa service ana? naa ba ang DOST ilaha own internet backb0ne t0 supp0rt such an ambitious nati0nwide coverage?

Binuang ning ilaha...ang Telc0 ra gihap0n na m0-pr0vide sa service..this is not even a threat to them in terms of competiti0n or whats0ever kay on the first place m0-kita man gihap0n. Much better pa eh open ang bidding t0 both l0cal and f0reign telc0s...aw0n nat0 kung dili ma-pug0s ug impr0ve ang mga l0cal telc0s (existing du0poly).

This network can further extend to public monitoring and research allowing the possibilities of monitoring river banks for flooding over the internet, rain monitors with smart sensors and the deployment of IOTs. These types of applications doesn't need a lot of internet bandwidth to begin with.

This is NOT meant for the general public use of streaming services, social media - fb, twitter, etc. 256Kbps wouldn't be enough for those types of applications anyway.

For all intent and purposes of the DOST, I see this as a positive and welcome development. I wondered why are some people are seeing this differently?
You're wondering why? Because majority of the people living in the Philippines that has a mobile phone capable of wireless connectivity to the internet are living on social media sites. With this news, people are not excited because they can now check their SSS and/or Pag-Ibig contributions, who does check their SSS or Pag-Ibig on a daily basis anyway?

People are excited about this because they can now do unlimited Facebook, Instagram, Tweeter or whatever sites nga 'way gamit' ug dili beneficial sa gobyerno. Just think about the money the government will be spending to fund this project, asa man na kuhaon? Of course sa ato ra gihapon nga tax.

LOL! With the current net speed this country has, good luck. Its like they're creating a new problem that will be coupled with an existing problem. Juz imagine this, my current download speed ranges from 400-600kbps from a 2MB speed plan. Now imagine what a 256kbps speed can do... or cant do...
