No, not correct. Vista runs also with 1GB. You will just not have all the eye candy like aero etc.

Maybe some people do not understand how vista handle memory.
Vista, in opposite to XP, DO HANDLE memory now properly, by USING it, not leaving it empty.
Vista's prefetch loads at start the programs and other things into the memory, usually the programs you use often.
It takes a week until Vista "know" what you usually use.
After that, programs start MUCH faster, because they are ready to run in memory.
If I for example load my Delphi IDE or Photoshop, it takes just a second to start.

I have 4GB, and have currently 20mb left, Vista had preloaded all the apps I usually use.

ok ok.. i don't have any problem with my vista once.. last 3 months ago I only used 1 Gig.. till i bought new 1GB last month.. but I don't have any problem. try to search how to handle your vista so you can understand and look better with vista..

we have different choices of how we use our computer puposes.. its up to you to upgrade it.. but i got only 2 gig of ram right now and too many programs running but still it aint lag for me.. I have a lots of programs.. but a little bit of games.. that is why my memory of 1 gig works.. if your a gamer.. dude.. have your video card more higher.. the nextmonth I will upgrade ismy video card.. and by the time come about 3 years after I will sell this CPU and back to the start!!

it's what we must all do.. don't stick to what you have right now.. move on and adopt new things.

Pls. note that a 32-bit OS can not address the full 4GB, you will have something around 3 or 3.4GB left. The rest is needed to map hardware into the 32-bit address space. To fully use the 4GB, you need a 64-Bit OS.
