The GT111 electric vehicle (EV) was begun as a “halo project,” a splashy concept designed to create awareness and attract investor attention for Filipino automaker Gitano and Michael Motorsports. Things didn’t really end up the way they were planned, however. They ended up much, much better.

The GT111 recently made the trip to Las Vegas for the Special Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. The prestigious trade show features more than 1,500 customized and accessorized four-wheel and two-wheel vehicles from all over the world – including the GT111, which is now intended for mass production with plans to market it in Europe. What’s more, Gitano now has the support of the Philippines Department of Energy.

In a letter addressed to Gitano designer and prototyper Michel Motorsport’s president Jan Kierulf, Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras noted that the e-sports car would bring pride to the Philippines and put it on the global map of e-vehicle development. “It is a source of pride that our country is helping to lead the electric vehicle movement. As we informed you during our meetings, it is part of the department’s policy to support the development of the local electric vehicle manufacturing industry. As such, we fully support your plan to cause the manufacture of high quality electric vehicles,” Almendras said in a statement.

The GT111 is a joint effort among companies from different countries: the Filipino firm Michel Motorsport for the concept, design, pre-engineering activities and business planning; a British company for the chassis, suspension and vehicle standards; and an American firm, EV Drive Oregon, for the electric power train development.

unsa mani? All parts 100% made in the Philippines?

    or

80% made in china, then 20% made in the Philippines.

if majority sa parts are made in China, therefore it's still made in China. hehehe.

Proud of these guys. Bisan pa ang materials sourced sa gawas or dili, the fact that pinoy nagconceptualize and naghimu makes it 100% pinoy. The curves may be ferrari-ish oe lamborghini-ish but it still has its distinct design. Plus the key components kay dili sad baratuhon then this great.
I pray this will go a long way.
