    ikaduha...

there's a genre called j-pop, sweddish metal, kraut-rock, viking metal, etc etc. mao nga

    natawag ni sila ug genre
(or sub-genre) mainly due to the theme of their songs and tungod sad sa ilang lyrics.

oh come on, don't let me state the obvious here...
dude, im talking about genre of music here.....

did you even listened to those genres?

true, those genres existed pero they have their own distinct sound while bisrock doesnt... kay naghisgot mangyud ka og sweddish metal, nakadungog naba ka Arch Enemy? they are a sweddish metal band pero they never had any song written in Sweddish nor about sa ila culture. Ang Nightwish kay gitawag og Guthenburg Metal pero taga Finland mana ang Nightwish. si Cecilia Menkihi kay Latin JAzz iya genre pero never heard her speaking like one nya d syad siya latin kay Italian mana siya. try paminaw Mr. Childredn og Gray. Jrock na mga bandaha pero puro English ila mga lyrics. jrock, jpop, jmetal is famous for making pop melodies the Japanese way. ang Finntroll kay Viking Metal pero ang lyrics nila puro about Trolls. not all latin rock speaks in spanish. sound og ang theme ra gyud na agdon dude para ma music genre.

hope you get my point. dont mean to bash you...

wala man ko against sa banda nga mag binisaya. i just dont think bisrock is a genre.

overblown ra kaayo and to think wa may na usab. ang uban og magkalisod mangawat pa og riff sa foreign bands.. naa naman gani kawat sa kanta sa bamboo.

ganahan man sad ko og banda nga mag binisaya. i like Smooth Friction since the first cd came out. they are a good Jazz metal band. i grew uplistening to Roots and Abyss, so dili na bago sa ako ang bisaya nga rock

d naman bag-o na ang banda nga mag binisaya.... anyone remembers the Roots, Abyss and

Disco Assasins? i still forgot that band who plays new wave pero ila lyrics kay bisaya gihapon....

    |at*y! naa nako gi post as a reply ni Balut_man. i hopes it wasnt deleted on purpose|

ako na man ni gitubag...i think na-wala due to a server backup glitch or something.

    anyway, to summarize my points.

    yes.

double yes. coz they're from sweden that's why they're lumped under the "sweddish metal" tag. if they're from america do you think they would still be labeled as such? nightwish is actually a "finnish symphonic power metal" who borrows elements from gothenburg metal. blah blah blah. anyway, i said "mainly" not "all". there's a thin line there.
also, i want you to dig deeper rather than nitpicking on a handful of "obscurely new" examples. like, how do you think this sub-genre started?? unsa ila roots and origin. weigh the qualifications. usa ka qualifications or similarities aning mga sub-genres nga atong gi-hisgutan is, it is simply labeled or tagged accordingly to where it started...kanah imong mga artist gipangmention bay...clearly adopted their influenced or style maong natawag sila as such.

on the otherhand, i think it's unjustly wrong to rub or impose the guilt of ripping-off on the genre itself, i think sa banda na na mismo. do you blame the all germans for the holocaust? do you blame aimee marcos and ilocos(the dorques kicks major ass btw!) for all the martial law hoolabaloo? isn't that unfair?

and speaking of bamboo, heck even they ripped-off that nescafe commercial they had. the nerve of them to cover a political song(Buklod's Tatsulok) when they're working hand-in-hand for the man(but that's another story). and what about orange and lemons?? and cueshe...don't even get me started. them cashcows. did we blame pogi rock or pinoy rock for such terrible sins?? DID YOU??

    conclusion:
look into the big picture rather than nitpick weak points.

Dili man cguro ni matawag nga "nitpicking" kang rata. And these weak points must be address. Remember, bisrock is still struggling for a real BISROCK sound. Not imitation but truly unique bisrock sound. Ug sa pagka karon, wala pa mo ani nga level. And you think you are. That's tha reason why you need to listen to some criticisms. Be it bad or good.

The only unique about bisrock is not musically but sonically. It sounded lofi. This sound is acceptable/ok if we are in the 60's/70's. But we are now in the 21st century. Engineers who engineered bisrock is only good for demo purposes but not that good enough in delivering professional results. No offense, just the truth and it hurt. Mixing is a serious full time job that you/we just take for granted. A highly specialize skill. You have the tools but have enough skills to use it. It's like having stradivari violin but don't know to play it right.

yes. we're all open to criticisms here. that's why we're discussing the issue at hand. and we're definitely discussing it in a mature level, which i think is good. however, at the interest of calling it a "discussion", i think it is relevant to hear the opposing side as well.

anyhow, i think the main reason why bisrock "sounded so lo-fi", as you would put it, can be trace back on one main reason - monetary constrains. which IMHO, is expected considering we have a movement that has risen from a "grassroots" somewhat DIY-low-budget level as opposed to bands manufactured by corporate cashcows. ang pangpractice ug pangrecording gikan tawn sa ilang kaugalingon bulsa. wala ni sila paluyohi ug mga recording company. and the case here is not really sound engineers who are technically-challenged. imho, cebu has two of the best sound engineers in the philippines. and mind you, the lo-fi trend just made a comeback in "indie music" circles by the way.[here's a link]

i'll say it again, bisrock will never become a fad or trend if people believe in it. however at the peak of it's infancy, i admit there's definitely a lot of room for improvement. and growth is always good.

"DIY-low-budget level" can sound very much professional if it falls into the hands of real talented engineer(s). Had these two best sound engineers recorded or mixed a symphony sessions with professional results? If yes, then I will agree with... Even these engineer's own band sounded lofi. How can you justify that they're the best?
