murag ma verify paman gihapon na nila bhay thru serial number / cd key na imo gamit and kng when and where na nimo na avail ang evaluation copy ... am not sure sa uban nila na proceedures

nope! illegal nana that win98 na bundled sa imo pc is called win98 OEM (am not sure about the proper term basta naa OEM) wherein ang license is for that particular pc only , one way of making it a one license one pc

There's a way to do this to change your oem license stuff. I've heard it from a news story somewhere. It's because of second hand computers (surplus) shops. Microsoft offers some EULA change, because, actually sa mga surplus shops, you're not allowed to sell these computers with windows on it... because it's registered to someone else (like the original company it was bought from).

In my opinion, it's too much of a hassle (kinahanglan pa ka mo adto sa MS and do some negotiations, etc... blah blah). I'm hoping na people will shift from MS to linux. In fact in many countries and big businesses, they use linux and open source as a leverage to get HUGE discounts from Microsoft, even offer it for free in certain cases.

I'm sure because of this, Microsoft and other companies in the BSA (Adobe, Symantec, Autodesk) will be forced to rethink their strategies.

what if mapareha ka sikat and rich ang linux sa Windows. basin dili na niya sila free. hehehe. naa bai sort of agreement or law nga linux or unix will be forever free. say debian is free, so forever free na jud?

nigara ng microsoft kay most software houses develop apps for Windows only. Tan-awa ra gud ng mga games sa cafe, walay linux version. kung naa pa lang di ok kaau. d ta mag salig sa windows.

Linux (open source one) is always and forever free to modify and download. GPL, the license which governs it, ensures it.

I think this can be contested in any rational court..... i bought the PC with the software.... I have rights to that software... I can upgrade the PC and used the software...

It like buying a music cd.... I can play it in any player i want.... as long as I don't make copies of it....

that is also my basic understanding, even if it is a bundled software of my old pc, i believe still have the right to used it hence the older pc is gone......sayang kon dili nko gamiton....i paid for it....i have 8 of these coz my pc are all branded before....good kon makasabot unta cla ini nga sitwasyon......
