I think it was the pro-rate fee for first time subscriber. Similar as all other telecom.Originally Posted by aljoriz
Lets put pldt landline for example. When you first apply for PLDT landline and your line was connected October 18. When you get your first bill on november, you will be paying the monthly fee plus the pro-rated fee from October 19 up to the billing cut-off date. So if the billing cut-off date is November 5, then the pro-rate fee is calculated from October 19-november 5.
That is a normal fee for all telecom services.
Best DSL provider? Nah, it depends on many factors...
Mine here has a 512kbps connection subscribed PLDT MyDSL but in my usage, it is 1000+ kbps. My friend who has cafe also has been in GLobe with 512 also but 600+ in usage. My other barkada is in PLDT with 512 also but got only 700+ in usage. His cousin in an internet cafe biz using Globe 512 has 900+ in usage. So simple thinking, it depends on many factors that could affect... Better make a biz establishment right beside the build where the server of ISP located for 100% wild speed connection, lol.
Earthlink? NOT!
SBC? NOT!
Comcast? Hmmmm...bearable
Globe!

I agree with you. But what could be the best when you're in Jagobiao? I need a DSL for 30 computers. Murag badshot na jud ang GREENDOT. heheOriginally Posted by Friend

I went to Globelines Business Office in SM yesterday. I had a hard time cutting off my Broadband connection. They won't tell me the rebates or any outstanding balance I have. A lady gave me two telephone numbers instead to contact. I had a hard time calling those numbers and when finally somebody did pick up, they just told me that it's not their job and I have to go to their Business Center Office and gave me another number to call with the same result that it's not their job again. I gave up after calling the whole afternoon.
Irony of ironies, when I called PLDT this morning at 10 am., they came right away after more than an hour. I filled up their forms, paid up and said I have to wait for 3 to 5 days for the installation. I got the plan 888 which already includes a telephone line plus 288 kbps DSL. I do have 2 other existing accounts on different locations with one more than 4 years already. So, it is very easy for me to compare PLDT and Globelines. I ask for a good DNS server number from PLDT telling them not to create a report of complaint at 2 pm today and they suddenly called up at 5 pm to ask what my problem is. Wow, that’s how fast they are for just today. In four years I did experience the problems of waiting for their customer support to pick up my calls, and now DNS and internet slowdowns, etc. but nothing compares to my Globelines problems. I once had my windows displaying an online time of almost 1 month during the early days of Kazaa downloading using PLDT. I think it is still possible now but I turn off the computers every night. Now my router tells me that I’ve been connected to PLDT from 7 am to 1 am straight most of the time.
To recall my whole Globelines experience.
I applied last year and used the internet for 6 months and after 1 week without anybody even trying to fix my problem i cut it off without paying the pre-termination fee.
I applied last August and for several times because they told me that I should keep going back to their Business Offices and fill up the forms including the location sketches every week because lady clerk on the counter really confirmed that that's what I’m suppose to do. It didn't work. Instead another sales just happened to pass by our house and inquired if somebody wants Broadband Connection. When they tried to install it the first day it didn't work and when it did the following day and for 1 month and almost 2 weeks I have 2 bills with a total of 6 pages of connections and disconnections similar to a postpaid cell phone bill that tells you what time you use your cell phone and for how long. Then finally came two weeks of no connection except 2 days in between that's practically useless because it disconnects and reconnects many times in 1 hour.
These includes the long hours of waiting for the promise of an on-site visit. The waiting on the phone for a customer service to pick up your calls between 20 to 60 minutes and even at 2 am in the morning. The listening of their employees blaming each other. The broadband contractors can't give me internet because the telephone wires are not there. The linemen contractors are blaming the broadband contractors for screwing up the wires. Why can't they get together and coordinate with each other and use a laptop so I don't need to coordinate with them when they let me wait for them all day everyday for them to visit again and again. I have compiled several numbers and names already with varying degrees of trying to help me but all to no avail. Maybe I’m just too unlucky and twice with Globelines. I’m sure some of you, Globelines subscribers, are experiencing bliss with their service. I surrender.
