Yeah youre right Zirv, its branding. But if you put all these "brands" that you said and let it control a heavy network, you'll know that some may not survive.

Oh by the way, whats your preferred brand then?

MY preferred networking equipment is http://www.loktechnology.com/
pls do check it out....its been biting into cisco's sales....As I said If somebody sees that you are overcharging your products it represents an oppurtunity for someone to sell it cheaper....

Correct me Zirv if im wrong but the URL that you gave is selling link management products and not network connectivity products.

We are after for fast internet connection and not internet connection management.

And the site you gave says something like...

"Session capacity of AIRlok appliances assumes Normal/Commerical session characteristics connected through Simple network infrastructures. Intense/Advanced session characteristics and/or complex network infrastructures reduces the effective capacity of an AIRlok appliance."

Anyways, airosus, if you plan to have a fast internet connection, prepare your LAN. Gigabit connectivity up to the workstations if possible. Naay barato na mga gigabit switches na pang small office.

Second, project your internet traffic and get a sufficient bandwidth to cater this. 1Mbps would be more than enough.

you said heavy weight networks or high load networks...Mao to ang kinhlan all-in-one....dili Cisco na palit ka ug usa ka router usa ka VPN, usa ka firewall and so on and so forth....

Correct me if I'm wrong Cisco doesn't profit selling LAN switches(Commodity nani as I said). They make money selling network management control as you mentioned....Sa mga software management sila dako ug kita...

LAN switch nowadays are commodity they are built the same way add lang gamay features sa uban....So choose well....

Gigabit network....I don't think it will have an effect on the setup...You don't move videos, scientific data, or 3 D animation in your network at the office I think...So 100Mbps will do just fine....Gigabit unya nana....

Bandwidth is important and also the provider....PLDT dsl there are so many subscribers so expect mo hinay imo connection...The reason being if daghan mo mo gamit at the same time you will share the bandwidth available so kini naay peak and off-peak pud...

Bayantel gamay ra naka subscribe so nindot kaayo ang ping times...
Globe dsl is satifactory....Nindot and Globe if enterprise solution ka mo subscribe naa Service Level Guarantee...

Just add another AIRlok appliance...The word is reduce capacity with Intense sessions....The US military uses them in Baghdad....Even that testimony alone is pretty intense already...BATTLE tested

I agreed w/ tamblot. 3com or linksys are cost-effective compare to other switches (not cisco). Cisco low-end switches are expensive comparing others but they have more features (for future purposes) and better performance... we are dealing here how scalable your switch in the network (LAN)

@Airosus, I suggest 3com or linksys coz they have better performance and scalability. And for your question, if you want to have a fast internet connection, its up to ISP. ISP gives you 512k but they are giving only a burst rate not the guaranteed bandwidth. Try contact your ISP if you want to have a guaranteed bandwidth but they are costly...

@Zirv, I like your suggestion, they are built in one but they are not a solutions for this thread. He/She wants only to have a fast internet connection not giving all-purpose... ang bandwidth shaping ra mn ang magamit dre to have a fast connection. depende sb kng unsa features nya sa iya bandwidth shaping per users or per port no. (QOS)...

by d way, cisco have also all-in-one purposes, ISR (Integrated Services ROuter). check at their website...

    @juantamad

I know naa ang CISCO ug all-in-one pero purting mahala nya karon ra sila ga himo sa-una ila baligya tagsa-tagsa......As I said If somebody will see you overcharging for your products it will represent an opportunity for the competition to charge at a lower price that is healthy competition...

I'm not telling Airosus to buy the Airlok device...I'm just showing to Tamblot that there are companies that can compete with CISCO and they do it so well....

As I said all Scalable unmanaged switch are COMMODITY (just like PC, RAM, Modem, LAN card) They are built the same way and most will have the same specs....Sa BRANDING ra makita ang price difference usahay dagko ra kaayo......3COM or Linksys you pay premium for the BRAND....

I know Airosus is not a heavy user...If internet cafe or small office....100Mbps will do.....
