hala uie!! i know for the fact that 50% of the people in congress dont know anything about computers, internet, networking, and how they work, they only let their IT professionals do the work, how can they pass a bill when they dont even know how to debate about it. bisan ang U.S naglisud ug pass sa SOPA, PIPA, tungod nga wla jud sila knowledge ug unsa mga consequences.

bisan ang founder sa internet nakulbaan ani nga bill.

We need to make sure that free speech is preserved. For me public officials are fair game, they chose to live in the spotlight and should be mature enough to cope with a little derision.

Under SB 2796, cybercrime offenses would include:

Offenses against the confidentiality, intergrity and availability of computer data and systems (illegal access, illegal interception, data interence, system interference, cyber-squatting, misuse of devices)

    Computer-related offenses (computer-related forgery, computer-related fraud)

Content-related offenses (cybersex, child pornography, unsolicited commercial communications, libel)

So long as there is no penalty for receiving pirated goods in the physical world of Philippines then I don't see how penalties for virtual piracy can be implemented. I believe that only business institutions and not individuals are deemed accountable for using unlicensed materials, at least that's how things appear.

Many countries are behind the times and trying to catch up legally with the information age. Some reasons are noble enough such as the desire to tackle stalking, cyber-bullying etc, but some regimes even in developed countries are fearful of the power of social media and are taking steps to control the flow of information. As far is Phils is concerned I think this is probably just a token gesture ie lawmakers trying to appear relevant.
