naa ko ds lite for sale.. pm me
We had a PSP once...probably the 2nd in Cebu back then. It was a gorgeous device. That resolution and widescreen format was at a level of awesomeness that's at a level of home consoles. It had the raw potential of becoming a completely independent console/entertainment system.
But that was not the case with my experience.
I had a couple of games on it but coming from a background in pain-ass-choosiness in games, I found that the PSP games were a little more if not less than a portable version of a console game. We just probably needed to give the PSP some time to get some good games going but I'm an impatient son-of-a-bitch and I wanted a good time right there, right now. I paid a good 20+k and all i ever got was a sore back, wrists, and watery eyes (cos you had to turn down brightness to save on battery).
Next comes the entertainment scene: Movies yeah it can do those, MP3s too, and browsing, and stuff.. all i know is for a 2GB (or even 4GB if you had one).. It's just to much Gaughddamn work to get those in the PSP.
Browsing could've been fun but I mean, I can't even begin to explain the amount of frustration browsing was.
These 'pain probs' would later be easily remedied by 3rd party devices but it was over for me.
We sold the PSP and got a DS.
The DS...now that's another story.
It's not as versatile as a PSP but man did I spend heaps of time on it. I probably had more game time with the DS lite in 2 weeks than I ever did with the PSP. It's a Nintendo alright keeps it simple and keeps it fun. Games aren't as fancy but it suited my taste just fine. Even had my sisters playing on it for a bit (and they're not even gamers).
I wish I could add more experiences regarding the DS lite but I can't.
Cos i ended up wanting a lens for my camera real bad that I sold it some 1 month after I got it. lol.
So moral of the story?
yeah my lens trumps your PSPs and DSs Suck on that biatches. lol.
this is the line --------- cross it. i dare you
Counterpoint to comicgeek's point (I'm not dissing BTW, just providing some arguments) :
- No doubt, the PSP's design is sleek, hell, that's one of the reasons I got one (damn Ridge Racer and its sexy intro movie, lol). It's a definite crowd pleaser, but after a week you notice that you have to keep it in its pouch all the time, it gets smudged with thumbprints no matter what you do, it's annoying to be careful all the time lest you want to scratch the screen, and after playing for a long time, you're hands get cramped and tired holding it.1. the hardware itself "feels" more like a gadget than a toy (Gameboy or NDS FOR ME is like a toy)
4. the screen is better than the DS or DS lite. 16:9 ratio. plays mp3s, videos
Now the original DS and GBA, they do look like toys, but you're hardpressed to find a better designed portable than the DS Lite. It looks great out of the bat, the size is just right, and although it's glossy, it's not a smudge magnet. Screens don't scratch easily, and your hands don't hurt after extended playing hours.
As for the screen, yep, its freaking gorgeous, but its also eats batteries for breakfast, I usually got only 4 hours from my PSP before needing to recharge, I can get at least 6-8 hours in from my DS. The DS' screen is brighter on the highest setting too.
- Most people associate Nintendo's products as kiddy, childish, etc. A lot of their biggest hits are, but there's a HUGE variety of games for the DS. Narrowing your scope to just Pokemon, Mario, and Nintendogs is being naive. If you're into watered down PS2 games, and that's all you want, then the PSP is perfect, but if you're looking for something fresh, different, the DS is the way to go.2. the games FOR ME are more into my taste (Pokemon for example on the GBA is a bit too cartooney)
There's a reason why after a year plus it's still hard to get a DS in Japan, while the PSP's widely available, its got a gigantic library of games that appeal to everyone.
- This is definitely a preference, and I agree, Tekken's a blast when played in short bursts, but this is not an advantage for the PSP, as there are plenty of games for the DS that are superb 5-minute distractions as well. This is a universal advantage of gaming portables and the games that come with it.3. I don't play too-long-to-complete games anymore like rpgs (especially turn-based). the PSP has games that FOR ME are best for on-the-go gaming that does not require you to save your progress. For example when shopping together with my girlfriend she goes to the fitting room while I turn on the PSP and play 3 rounds of Tekken or I can play a short round of tennis without having to worry of saving or not saving the game.
- Seriously, does anyone use the PSP's browser extensively? It's slow as hell, using the buttons / d-pad is very counterintuitive, there's no Flash support and after the initial wow-factor of surfing through it, it gets completely ignored.5. has an ok browser so I can check my site or email
- the PSP currently does NOT have a camera option, they've been announcing this for awhile now but it hasn't come out yet, and when it does come out, it'll be underpowered, pricey and noone's going to buy it. Would you buy a 1.3MP camera attachment that'll probably cost at least $150? Specially with alot of cameraphones sporting 2MP?6. has a camera option
-7. inspires creativity and fuels curiosity
- Uhm, customizing the PSP's hardware consists of adding screenprotectors, decals and accessories. There are a few homebrew software that are useful though. So there's no such thing as tinkering with the PSP's innards.8. can be customized to no end hardware and software
9. I love tinkering with it's innards hardware and software
- Officially it hasn't gone that much cheaper, maybe here retailers who've been selling it for $400-$500 are now selling it for $300, but its supposed to sell for only $200 (originally $250).10. it's getting cheaper
Hahah, so true, at first I was all "sweet! Gotta convert all my TV eps for the PSP, good times!" Then I realized what a freaking pain in the ass it would be to do so.Next comes the entertainment scene: Movies yeah it can do those, MP3s too, and browsing, and stuff.. all i know is for a 2GB (or even 4GB if you had one).. It's just to much Gaughddamn work to get those in the PSP.![]()
pain in the *ss converting? u using hex editors or something?
i'd love to oogle at peoples lenses but i'm too busy sipping coffee and gunning down fighter jets..
if i was stuck in traffic, i'd prefer a DS Lite or a PSP in my back-pack than a camera.
Moral of the story:
Don't get stuck in traffic, feign a fever, stay home and rock!
im not dissing btw, just throwing in my 10cents worth.
about this. it does have a camera option. trazer has it. he brings it once in a while to the psp owners gathering.and it didn't cost $150. i think he got it for 2000+ pesos.Quote

People get interested in creating themes for their PSPs. It's not easy to do so people basically go to the process of knowing how to hack their PSPs so they can just put themes on it. Yeah I know its a pain doing stuff on the PSP like converting videos and stuff but FOR ME doing something that makes my gadget stand out from the rest is a rewarding experience.-7. inspires creativity and fuels curiosity![]()
People are actually modding the PSP hardware and there are very good mods btw Especially the one adding a second analog stick (really easy for me to do also but just too expensive materials needed to just break it down to get one single component - analog stick of PS2 controller and PSP faceplate). Ever since I installed custom firmware I don't worry of my PSP being bricked anymore. I have been changing, hex editing, replacing and hacking my PSP ever since. Especially with my current silver PSP which has the brightness issue, and the only solution was to modify the firmware even more so it uses the old brightness controllers so it will display the proper brightness settings.- Uhm, customizing the PSP's hardware consists of adding screenprotectors, decals and accessories. There are a few homebrew software that are useful though. So there's no such thing as tinkering with the PSP's innards.
Yeah sad but true. My first PSP was 21K value pack. My second was 15K value pack. My current one was 12K. So at least cheaper than when it first came. This is really really sad though.- Officially it hasn't gone that much cheaper, maybe here retailers who've been selling it for $400-$500 are now selling it for $300, but its supposed to sell for only $200 (originally $250).
@Zerone_null: well put heheheeh. Lenses can go up to 400k ++
wow, interesting, I stand corrected on the camera attachment, so I'm guessing this is different from Sony's official camera for the PSP? I still think it's a novelty item and not much else.
2nd analog stick :
- what do you use it for? Is it a 2nd analog stick or a replacement? It would be great if you could use two analog sticks for the PS1 games they're releasing but I don't see how that's possible. How does it look adding another analog stick to it? Wouldn't it ruin its portability abit?
Thing is, anyone who will glance at both portables will immediately assume the PSP is loads better than the DS, you've got Sony backing it (which frankly doesn't mean much nowadays), its screams gadget lust and its easy to envision using it as a multimedia device. That's probably why a lot of people choose the PSP over the DS even if they don't have either. Heck, that's why I got a PSP over a DS back then.![]()
In fact ang 2nd analog stick mod simple ra kaau just solder the potentiometers to the pcb area which serves as the contact for the square, triangle, circle, x buttons. Simple kaau gyud pero mau lagi mahal kaau ang components kai mupalit pa ta og ps controller and another faceplate para ma complete ang mod.
Another mod is using the ps2 controller for the psp. Still simple soldering to the correct contacts on the pcb pero mas mahal ang gasto. Palit ka ps2 controller, palit 4 mini usb connectors, small suction cup to hold the psp when connected. then ang pinakasakit nga part imong lunga-gan imong psp backcase for the usb ports. in the end you will get 5 usb ports including the original one.
Ang hardware modification sa tan-aw nako gratifying gyud... pero wala pako ni try kai sayang kaau kung masipyat ka gabas imbis nindot na ang imong psp bati na hinuon og dagway.
