Napoleon's Grande Armee tried it, Russia fell back to Moscow scorching everything so the French could not live off the land. Same thing with Sweden about a century before that. The Wehrmacht could have captured Moscow, because they're plan was to get to the capital before the dreaded Russian Winter. They had everything down to logistics to maintain a Blitzkrieg. What happened was Yugoslavia's previously Axis-aligned government was unseated by a pro-British one. Hitler could not take the insult and took off a substantial amount of his Eastern Army and a huge fraction of the Luftwaffe to "retake" Yugoslavia, effectively stalling Barbarossa for four-weeks. It was said that Hitler would regret that decision for the rest of the war, and his closest confidants recall him saying "i want my four weeks back" as the Soviets shelled Berlin. It was Hitler's pride that done him in.
Agreed. to empower your people, you have give them a common hatred for something. IMHO, Hitler did not really hold fierce hatred for Jews, the infirm, gypsies, etc. he used them as scapegoats for their failure in WWI, which in turn gave his country something to strive for...In a few years, he had brought the previously depressed economy and military (because of the Treaty of Versailles downsizing the German military) into a renewed superpower. I think it's safe to say he would have considered it a victory had he taken over western Europe (minus Britain) and Russia's industrialized regions.I don't believe the Nazi regime would have or wanted to depopulate the world of Asians, Negros, Indians, Jewish, Malays. They only meant to 'sanitize' Deutschland (Land of the Germans) from these 'undesirable races' fueled by racial nationalism. Nazi Germany was allied with Japan after all and supported Japan's holy war and the Japanese ethnocentric belief that they are master race among other Asians. Several Nazis were also fascinated by the Tibetans believing they were descendants of the Aryan race. Having a world only populated by Aryans were mere Nazi propaganda aimed to empower ordinary Germans.
Germany would have to attack Soviet Union sooner or later. It was a good idea to attack the Soviet Union that early on but, in order to secure a victory (resources and industries to power the Nazi war-machine from Russian industrial factories, more labor force, and Russian oilfields), Hitler should have committed to his plan and just keep Yugoslavia at bay using his Italian allies (Mussoulini was being an idiot though for opening a campaign against Greece, because he was jealous of Germany's military ventures). So I think Operation Barbarossa's success would have meant Germany had better stakes at winning the war. If they did not launch it, there were big indications that Stalin was going to break the Nazi-Soviet Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact anyway. Hitler just beat him to it because the USSR then had trouble mobilizing.
Just imagine if Hitler got to Moscow. That would allow him to free up some of his forces in Russia (where a majority of his Army is committed) and secure Northern Africa and send many to France to intensify the Campaign for Britain (though he did not need to capture Britain, just suppress them). He could then broker a peace agreement, or he would bomb Britain to a point where they want a cease of hostilities. The entrance of the Americans into the war would not be significant.

captain Barbarossa < captain jack sparrow

European antisemitism goes way back though. Even the Protestant leader Martin Luther published writings against the Jews and that was in the 16th century. Antisemitism increased in the Renaissance and during the rise of nationalism in Europe. What Hitler wrote in Mein Kampf was nothing new, he was merely conforming with the looming hatred shared by a great number of average Europeans of their 'society's disease' which made his "Final Solution (of the Jewish question)" plan effective.
timing bag.o paku human tan.aw ug schinders list nabasahan naku ni nga topic. unsa gyud kahay resources sa ila country nga maka sugakod mag atbang sa allied forces ug uban pang mga nasod. ako pa hitler dli naku mosakop sa lau2x pa nga dapit. ma katag lagn iya forces.
hehe.. karon ra ko kita ani dah... nana man halos mga tubag... hehe
palahi ko.. if wla lang unta ge involve ang US sa gubat. Dako jud chance madaog sila. Ka surrenderon na baya ang ang Britain.

Uu, gi attack man sa US ang Western front, from France then from Italy unya nag-counteroffensive ang USSR sa East. In nastier terms, gi gang-bang ang Nazi Germany pag 1944.
yay WWII TOPIC! i love this.
Sa Pacific pud. na fascinate jud kos sa Imperial Japanese Navy. what a thing of beauty!

^Dali lang kaayo ni surrender ang France 1940 pa. Wa kaabot usa ka buwan ilang away. Gi bypass sa Germans mga ngilgig na defenses sa Fransya na years in the making and by using blitzkrieg tactics and tank-to-tank radio communications technology which is said to be unknown during those times.
even if the nazis didnt do the operation barbossa, the war would still end in 1945. why? because the united states was able to make the A-bomb. but i had a very old reader's digest book at home saying that germany was ahead than the US of its research in splitting the atom. einstien warned the US that the nazis were researching on splitting the atom and their progress was good. their only problem was the heavy water which is very hard to produce. it was hampered by the sabotage of british commandos that destroyed the dams that produces their heavy water thus hitler abandoned their atom bomb research
