Gerry showed he still has some boxing left in him. although he lost, i didn't think the fight was as lopsided as what the scorecards showed. i'm still proud of Gerry Penalosa...

Gerry Peñalosa will be back on the ring to right Daniel Ponce de Leon. If ever Peñalosa will win this fight, it's hitting two birds in one stone.

1.) Peñalosa will redeem his loss to Ponce de Leon
2.) Philippines will have it's sweet revenge for Rey Bautista's 1st round KO loss to Ponce de Leon.

GERRY PEÑALOSA TO FIGHT DANIEL PONCE DE LEON

GERRY Peñalosa will get a chance to correct a blot in his record when he tangles again with WBO super bantamweight king Daniel Ponce de Leon in a highly-anticipated rematch in February.

Golden Boy Promotions vice president Eric Gomez confirmed the fight in an interview with Philboxing.com in the sidelines of the Pacquiao-Barrera II.

“We are now working on this one. It should take place in February in the Philippines and we are currently working with our partner SGG Promotions and ALA to do it there,” Gomez told Philboxing.com.

Peñalosa lost to de Leon in their first meeting during the undercard of the Barrera vs. Juan Manuel Marquez. The Pinoy got his career back on focus with an impressive seventh-round stoppage of Jhonny Gonzales during the World Cup of boxing to win the WBO bantamweight belt.

On the other hand, de Leon humbled Rey Bautista in a one-round demolition to keep his WBO belt in the main event of the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Sammy Gello-ani, the head of the SGG Sports Promotions, also confirmed to Philboxing.com the plan to do a rematch and indicated that ABS-CBN will air the fight. (ML)
