Suicide is the ultimate selfish act. Through my work, I have met so many people with suicidal thoughts. Mostly they were not really suicidal as such but reaching out for help. Others are really serious and just want to end it all to end their pain. The risks of suicide however, is if you attempt but survive. Regardless of the mode of suicide attempt used, it only takes 4-7 minutes of oxygen deprivation to the brain and the brain cells die to the point of no return. If you lived, you will end up in a chronic vegetative state. Breathing but unable to move, or do anything for yourself. Depending on the extent of brain injury. If not enough, you will be aware of what is going on but unable to do anything about it. Then you would really wished you were dead!

Absolutely correct! People need support and understanding immediately post-relationship break-up because that is the stage when she/he is at her/his most vulnerable and depressed state. Being simply told "move on" or "he/she is not the only fish on the ocean" is really not enough. Being able to listen and support and provide empathy (minus the tsismis ) to the broken hearted is far more useful than taking pills or dating on a rebound.
