... here's an interview of Terry Bozzio... it's sort of a tip .......
read along ..........
The Rutgers Review:: Could you explain your approach to solo drumming in layman's terms?
Terry Bozzio: Yeah. I can play on my drum set the same way a keyboard player accompanies himself by playing a bass line, or maybe chords, with his left hand while he plays a melody line with his right hand. I designate one or more of my limbs as accompaniment voices as they play a pattern so that's like either a little song or little beat that keeps people hooked in. On top of that I can solo against it, with my other limbs, in a melodic way and within a thematic and structural way so that I'm actually playing a drum song or drum sonata or what have you. In essence I have, to a certain extent, four way coordination and I can designate any of my limbs to hold onto certain things while others play against it. I try to approach the drum kit like a small orchestra within itself. I feel that the combinations of colors, textures and effects that you have from combining the different instruments on a drum kit makes a complete music statement within itself.
here's his " piano "

311 songs are good to practice with ... Chad has some very tight grooves... especially the song GRASSROOTS. To the guy who said Chad Sexton (311) is not technical... wa ko kabalo ug nganong naka sulti ka ana.
Also try Red Hot Chilli Peppers - kanang Blood Sugar *** Magik nga album .. there are some songs there that can really improve your chops.... and their songs are fun to play around with.
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream album ... this is a CD made without he help of a click track or metronome pero matun-an nimo ang feel ni Jimmy Chamberlain bisag dili perfect iyang time sa mga kanta.
Anything by THE POLICE - nindot kaayo basehan ang binunalan ni Stewart Copeland

I wouldn't recommend both BOZZIO, DANNY CAREY and PORTNOY .. although both are very exceptional drummers... their drumming style are too advanced for someone to learn on... Instead of improving your skill... maglibog nalang hinuon ka.. and most likely ma discourage lang ka kay these guys are really out there... especially si Danny Carey (TOOL).
Ug gusto ka'g medyo advance pero naa lang gihapoy groove and feel unya ginagmay nga technical chops... go for RUSH, A PERFECT CIRCLE, and TOTO.
Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?
totally agree. i dont know why these people recomend these way too advanced drummers. yes they are good. way too good. not the kind you wanna learn on unless you are on that kind of playing level already. ive got some drum instructional videos here whether for beginners or advance. give me a pm if u want a copy. this would be a good start but not those drummers mentioned. sakto si ezra. madiscourage lang ka if u try on their skills.Originally Posted by EZRA
