being a member of the communist party, per se, is not against the law. after the repeal of RA 1700, or the Anti-Subversion Law , membership to the CPP is not deemed illegal. however, if one is proven to have committed an act that merits under rebellion (whether he/she is under any organization or acts in his or her own individual capacity) shall be charged with rebellion.

And just because you've been to this or that country doesn't make you an expert on economics/politics.

You're right, but at least gives you a better picture of things. When you visit a country and see yourself that people have become focused with money, creating wealth and getting richer at all cost you will get a view of reality that wikipedia or websites can't. When I see China with one of the largest stock exchanges in Asia, block after block of private housing estates side-by-side huge privately owned malls selling goods at market-value then frankly you'd see how laughable it is when somebody claims China isn't capitalist. That is, you'd laugh too.

Those articles make no sense to anyone who has been to China. It won't make you an expert on everything about China just by visiting there but you will at least know one fundamental fact that everyone suddenly realize the moment they touch down at the airport, that China is a capitalist country, in some ways moreso than even the Philippines.

You probably think Vietnam is also communist, which means you have to visit Vietnam too. I bet if a group of NPA rebels went to Vietnam and China they'd get a big surprise.
